Now, is it any wonder why Perry left this circus act?
Gotta agree with Deano here. Arnel was TOTALLY promoting Journey doing these things, not to mention those upcoming Manilla shows. It kept Arnel in the limelight, Journey in people's minds, etc. I saw some things that Arnel did with those songs that were really good actually. I probably missed the lame ones, though, I can see that happening. BUT- for the band to kind of come down on him like that and make it public is a pretty classless move. I sort of agree that they probably should've put a limit on it or some kind of restrictions, but it should not have been made public.
There were two separate occasions where AP said he, he wasn't to sing songs with out the band. The Sharon Cuneta show where they mentioned contract stipulations, and then later in Guam during his charity shows. Yet after saying he wouldn't sing those during charity events because " those songs are reserved for Journey" he went out the next night and did it anyway. Why say one thing and do another the very next night? That's where I think overzealous fans unintentionally did him a disservice by uploading the videos of his performances to youtube.
Anyway, now it's public. I tend to believe AP does read stuff on the internet about himself and now knows how this incident has become quite a lightning rod for debate.

People got pissed at Perry for singing the songs while solo and he actually has writing credits on 95 percent of them and gets royalties. If diehard Journey fans didn't go for that, they sure won't go for this I guess.

It's like comparing Elvis singing his own hits to a Vegas impersonator singing them. The band had every right to shut him down, because it was reducing Journey's new lead singer to a karaoke act.

Reducing? Oh the possibilities with this one are endless.
