I know that's pretty cold. Too bad the had to put down the bear. I don't think it really wanted to hurt her. Bears are very fast. If it wanted to catch her, it could have easily outrun a human. She shouldn't have run away. They say it's better to face the bear, make your self as big as possible, wave your arms & make lots of noise and hopefully it will run away.but I guess that's easier said than done.
