I have been meaning to bring this up for some time, although its difficult to discuss the re-records since most here have " Never listened to them" for fear of turning into a Frog or that Perry will come and punch their cat or something. Anyway, I think Ross kicks Ass on this song, like he has something to prove. I also prefer Arnels version of OTY, he adds a little more enthusiasm and power to it.

I don't know the reasoning behind having Cain produce the re-records instead of Shirley.

Didn't someone on here say it came down to time?
They had to make that Walmart deadline...

Thats what I recall as well....as well as Shirley saying something about they know how these songs should sound by now or something.

The thing most puzzling to me is why every track post-TBF does not sound as loud, crisp and full as the TBF tracks?

My guess would be because Perry isn't involved. Nothing went out of there less than perfect when he was running things. I've learned that when your name is on something, be it a piece of paper or an album, you better make sure all the i's are dotted and the t's are crossed because it will definitely affect your reputation.

Perry is better on every track. They're his songs. That being said, Arnel is pretty good on some of the rockers.

I thought the rerecordings were a bad idea and didn't even listen to them for months after buying the CD. My point was that it's cool that Ross finally got a crack to BGTY, and funny how to me, it sounds more like Journey than the original.

Listened to it through once. That was enough. Have the originals. Say no more.

Have myself totally convinced that Rev- recordings will find it niche after a few listening and will totally grew on me. But after my initial hopes...
I came back to my early collections.
I like the new material though..
