Dan Reed Rocks

If an artist advertises a gig and takes money, irrespective of how many tickets they sell, do you think they should still play?

I went to see Dan Reed tonight. Get to the venue only to find that he canceled it due to poor ticket sales. No notice was given to say that the gig was canceled, despite the fact that I got my ticket online and had to give my email address. The venue refused to reimburse my ticket cost.

I've changed my mind about this. I was pissed off when i got in, but on reflection here is a guy that packs his guitar and travels halfway around the world to sing some songs to the folks of the UK. So that I think deserves respect. What I am really pissed off about now is the apathy of the people of Bristol who can't be bothered to get off their backsides and support live music. The truth of the matter is that we get what we deserve.

No, I don't agree with cancelling due to ticket sales. The show was advertised and tickets sold so there should have been a performance, doesn't matter if it's for 10 or 2000 ...they took your money and your time so.... as they say...the show must go on. That was very unprofessional to cancel for that reason...good way to lose fans. They should at least reimburse you for the tickets.

This sounds like a promoter problem.
What did his contract say?

First off, who the fuck is Dan Reed?

Secondly, what does that say about your musical taste if the dude you bought tickets for canceled due to a projected crowd size of 31?

LOL, dude, I can't stop laughing here..not at your monetary loss, but the fact you bought tickets ONLINE to see this jackoff.

Dude, Dan Reed puts on an amazing show. But I agree that he shoiuld have still played. However, I imagine he would lose more money by playing that by cancelling...

Wasnt JSS supposed to be guest singing at one of his gigs over in the UK ? - I think the London show.

Actually Duncan the problem with the gig was that it was in Bristol. Theres never any thing good on in Bristol , and there are only three melodic rock fans in the whole city, of which you are one of them :D :!:

I concede not the greatest financial investment I have ever made, but if I waited for a band that you approve of to come to town I wouldn't get out much.

I guess Soul Sirkus sucked by this definition...
Didn't they have a show where like 20 showed up or something.

The Dan Reed Network was a GREAT band out of Portland and Dan himself a great songwriter. I believe they had Castronovo connections as well (not sure). That band should've been huge. I agree that it sounds like a promoter issue. Too bad. It's interesting to hear that Dan Reed is doing shows again. I wonder if it's the Network, or just him.

Nice of everyone to gather round in support of one of our own who gotta bum shake.

"We gotta long way to go" indeed.
NO. He's NOT Steve F'ing Perry. But he's Arnel F'ing Pineda and I'm okay with that.

Good to check out artists' sites once in a while, most of them keep fans informed..such is the case of Dan's Official Site & MySpage page:

30/04/2009: Bristol Show Cancelled
Unfortunately we have had to cancel the Bristol Show due to poor ticket sales. Dan apologizes to those of you who have already bought your tickets for which you will be fully refunded.

Pick a place that has more than Negro Modelo on the beer list. I looked like a right twit asking for a Guinness in Mexicali didn't I?

I did look at the official website. There is nothing on the home page or on the Live page - the page that says keep up to date with live events. Perhaps all that porn has made me go blind.

No need to apologize - I didn't take offense. Brits may have bad teeth, bad food, shit weather, bad service, and a bankrupt country, but we can take a joke - even if it's on us. Hey - is there a giant carwash in Santa Monica that over looks a bar? I want to go there.
