Postby Jeremey » Wed May 13, 2009 3:38 am

Hey all!

Check out this cover of Steve Perry's "Missing You." Still working on original tunes, but can't release anything for quite a while yet.

Best,
Jeremey

I like the vocals okay...the keys, eh...and the bass is a too loud. I think your best song thus far is "What Can I Do". Stick with that sound, and I think you're album will sound great.

Wow! Man Jeremey, never heard you sing late-era SP. It's hard for me to imagine that you can use your voice in that key and with all of the great later Perry smokey, rougher sounding vocals and then go out and sing DSB or Lights or something of that era, in the original key with the smooth tenor that I've heard you use on all of the Youtube stuff I've seen.

That's amazing and cool as hell. You're a talented dude and a hell of a singer, and you deserve any and all success you get.

And I don't need to say it again, but I will. You were the better choice.

Rock on.

A little back of the throat (cher) like in the lower notes, and that always strong vibrato really too strong in places on this one. Stunning voice. Seriously....stunning voice, just needs some vocal coaching to dial in perfection. :D

Nice work Jeremey. I didn't "get" this song for a long time, but I love it now and this is a very good version. I'd love to hear Frontiers work up an SP solo medley sometime instead of just playing Oh Sherrie. I'm not a giant fan of his solo stuff or anything, but there's definitely enough to make a damn good medley. Oh well, I know OS goes over huge with the crowds and most other SP solo stuff would leave them scratching their heads and buyin a beer...

Thanks Matt - At any given time, Frontiers has done Oh Sherrie, Foolish Heart, and Missing You, but Oh Sherrie was the only one that stuck around with the crowd. I personally think "Strung Out" would fit perfectly in our show!

I keep listening to "What Can I Do" and it amazes me more each time. It's one of those irresistible songs, definitely belongs on the radio, or in a movie - somewhere!

How'd Foolish Heart go over? To me, even though it's probably his second biggest solo song, that's always seemed like one of those songs that for whatever reason just always works on the studio record better than it ever would live... just the arrangement and pacing and all that. Strung Out would be awesome, as would Summer of Luv, If You Need Me Call Me, and Melody.

Think you guys could pull off those Summer of Luv harmonies? I'm no singer, but those are some of my favorite SP harmonies ever and they sound like a bitch (well unless you could clone yourself four or five times for the live show...) Whatever Steve lost in range over the years, he sure made up for with his layered studio harmonies on later solo efforts/RoR/TBF... some crazy harmonies all over those.
