Folks, thank you so much for this. I was dreading today - it's the first birthday in my life that I haven't been woken up by my Mamma, either in person or by a phone call. Instead I've woken up to a sick cat and a trip to the vet. Logging in to get the vet's number, finding a PM message alert on my email, and then this thread has made a hard morning one with some smiles instead. Thanks again.

Ari
Why treat life as a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving in an attractive & well-preserved body? Get there by skidding in sideways, a glass of wine in one hand, chocolate in the other, body totally worn out, screaming WOOHOO! What a ride!

Ari's kitty did not make it.................she has had a great deal of sadness as of late. Please keep her in your hearts. She is a trememdously kind and good hearted individual. I think the world of her.

Ari, I hope your life brings you some comfort soon. :D

I had a shitty birthday, that started with taking my sick cat to the vet where I was told he was dying of renal cancer, and I had to make the decision to have him put down. My 37th birthday ranks as the worst of my life.

But my friends from all over the world pulled together and made me smile and laugh with their pictures, jokes and birthday greetings. Guys, you made a horrible, painful day bearable, and knowing that people I have never met in real life have been so generous with their thoughts, support, love and caring has made this week much easier to deal with.

Thank you so much.

That is really alot of sorrow in a short period of time.
Sometimes it seems life really dishes out too much.
It's Ok to cry & let it out.
I don't know if it really helps
I know when my brother died in 94 it was a deep jolt.
He was only 30 years old
Just gone...one day he was going off to the country saying goodbye.
He did tell me he loved me as he left.
Two day later there was an accident\
He was gone & the cat I showed you ran into the woods & was never found.
I was so distraught that I would just sit in the tub & cry so that the water would catch my tears.
Then I could feel him not wanting me to cry.

The only good thing about losing your Mom is that you got a chance to help her through the process of letting go to the other side.
You got to tell each other the things you always felt but never had the time to say.
So even though her passing was very sad at least you together had some time to deal with both your feelings.

It was many years before I could bear July 4th as it was right before he died & it was his favorite holiday & still it always seems that something
always happens around July 4th.
He used to put on a firework show for us so for many years fireworks made me sad.
Almost every year at that time something happens. Sometimes the lights go out or I have some computer problem. Even the computer repair place was curious.
This past early July the monitor died.
Just got up to a black screen.

I almost fear that time now but perhaps its his way of coming around to say he's ok like those few days after he passed when I came to the house to get some things I knew he would want to have with him I came home to a empty house & found the special glass that he always kept for me smashed to pieces on the floor.
I don't know how it fell off the counter as no one else was in the house but it did.
My mom thinks it was his way of saying goodbye...I will never know but it is sort of a comforting thought to know we go on & the ones we love don't want us to be sad so try to find the good things in life to share with your Mom as I really think its possible that those we love can feel us.
