Korn is beloved by many. I was teasing above. I have faith in the guys. But you're right. All my metal friends really appreciate Journey. But all of my alternative music friends would never listen to Journey.
"Alternative music" meaning they are fans of what kind of bands? I ask cuz it's such a broad, expansive term for so many different bands. Everyone has his/her own definition too. For me, alternative music died with the 90s - it encompassed anything from the grunge of the 90s to bands like Gin Blossoms, Vertical Horizon, and Hootie. But that's my own personal definition...
'80s and mostly '90s, right, what you listed, like Gin Blossoms. It is definitely an expansive term. And we're all across the board among us. From Pearl Jam, Nirvana, etc., to bands like R.E.M., U2, Coldplay, etc. Radiohead. Tears For Fears, which started out as New Wave/Synth Pop and moved into, for me, what I consider Alternative Rock in the '90s. Though, I'm one of the few longtime Tears For Fears fans I know who followed them into the '90s after the split. We all love Keane.
