Paul Stanley is a legend and can sing fucking circles around Eric Martin. Perhaps if you met him he would "emote" better and have more "soul."
Andrew wrote:Stanley is a showman...not a killer singer. Eric Martin has a much stronger and more soulful vocal.
StocktontoMalone wrote:StoneCold wrote:StocktontoMalone wrote:Top 3 should be Plant, Mercury, and Dio....IMHO
Then Gramm....
Mercury
Perry
Gramm
Plant
Bon Scott
all others fall where they may
Not a Dio fan I gather.....

RJ Dio
Ian Gillan
Robert Plant
Freddy Mercury
Steve Perry
Lou Gramm
Glenn Hughes

lol...the same old terms ("soulful" and "emote") for singers that can't even sell out the local taverns. Paul Stanley has a fucking army of fans and Eric Martin has....you and Deb.How come, just like with Soto, no one else hears this "soul" and "emoting?" Why can't these great "soulful emoters" even fill up a bar? *I* know why...because the two of you drag out these intangible terms to compensate for the fact that no one else is interested in these guys domestically. I'm not saying they're not talented, but you guys waaaaay overestimate their abilities, and their inability to fill up even a tiny venue is pretty much proof of that. Success, as far as hits and the ability to draw a crowd, is not the sole indicator of talent, but it does have something to do with it.

Except for that blather about Paul Stanley (whom no one would be interested in without his Kabuki make up and high-heel shoes) I actually agree with you SJ.![]()

StoneCold wrote:Anybody got the comple 50 list?
Did Phil Lynott make it?
If not, he should've or that list is bogus.
Also, Rod Stewart above Perry kinda nixes it too.

I agree, but I was told Stewart is Stewart whatever to hell that means.

So the fact that the likes of Jimi Jamison, Rik Emmett, Lou Gramm (just to name a few of your faves, 2 of which have played little casinos here recently) aren't selling out arena's anymore makes them any less talented? Domestically, it's our loss. Mr Big is starting a sold-out tour in June. A lot of these 80s and 90s rockers are selling VERY well overseas, ya know...........to people who still love to rock!Dan, if you are basing your music choices on numbers and superstar status, then I feel for ya, cuz you are missing out on some stellar music there my friend.

Ignorance is bliss. Stanley made have sold more records/CDs than God, but that doesn't make him the best vocalist in the world.
And for the record - Eric Martin is FAR bigger than Stanley in Japan, so there goes part of your crap theory.

Those singers all have hits and back catalogs to play. Eric Martin has To Be With You and Soto has ???

Kiss were the biggest band in the world in the 70s...not just Japan. But EM wasn't even around then, so your point seems a little lost.
And I'm getting sick of looking at that God awful Collins picture too.
