Worst Journey song pre-1998.

Possibly, but still better than anything new since 1998.

Are you kidding me? Arrival smokes that goofy song.
But you're not about to give any credit to anything that isn't Perry, so I'm not surpised.

I'll give credit. The playing on the stuff after SP has still been great, but just like some say that Perry's songs suffer without the help of Neal and Jon, it plays both ways. They haven't written 1 great song without SP. The last great Journey song was When You Love A Woman.

With SP, Journey was like great sex. Without him, the new stuff is musical masturbation. All the notes are there, but it sure as hell ain't the same.
Yep.

that was the most explanitive thing said about the new stuff to date. OWNED!

Not me, I find more pleasure with masturbation rather than real sex.

SP seems to not only a legend singing wise, but maybe missed his calling as a legend as a HUMAN MONEYMAKER. Are you kidding me, get real, you mean to tell me HH, Neil, Jon, Smitty and Big Ross and company didn't see this coming. And if they did see it coming, have the balls to pull the plug on the great one and say hell no, go work on your next release (FTLOSM2).

Herbie saw it coming. He had Perry figured out, but he was the only one. That's why Perry fired him. He wanted to make sure that when he left Journey high and dry that they wouldn't have someone like Herbie with the fire to pick up the pieces and carry on. Having Azoff and his stable of acts would leave him disinterested in Journey minus Perry and that's exactly why Perry fired Herbie in favor of Azoff.

Are we still arguing over this album?! :? :) Funny how some people “know” exactly what went down. Here’s a segment from the longer TBF satellite interviews:

https://www.yousendit.com/download/MnFn ... TWwzZUE9PQ

Straight from the horses’ mouths. Jon said it was a quick, effortless writing/recording session. Neal said the album was mostly live … “hardly any overdubs” … WYLAW recorded in 3 takes.

Nah... what in FACT happened was Neal and Jon were tied up and had guns to their heads, and were threatened with russian roulette unless they gave the answers that the evil kitten puncher wanted given.

You know, I could tell stories about former friends just because I don't like them... doesn't make them true, or doesn't mean I didn't exaggerate. I just love how people are so IN THE KNOW about literally everything.

Straight from the horses’ mouths. Jon said it was a quick, effortless writing/recording session. Neal said the album was mostly live … “hardly any overdubs” … WYLAW recorded in 3 takes.

Somone will say this interview was scripted and SP had to approve the answers

Yep, someone who really "knows". Of course Neal and Jon are lying.

What do you say about this interview, SJ? I'm waiting to hear you spin it.

I still can't believe people can listen to WYLAW and say that he had no voice.......it's a beautiful song and he sounds great!

I believe it. Some people only judge a voice based on range. Everything else was as good ot better than ever on that whole album. Personally, I wouldn't want to hear the 1978 Steve Perry sing that song. As great as he sounded then, it wouldn't sound right. It's funny too me when someone suggests how bad he sounded and that he NEVER planned to tour. So are we to believe that Neal, Jon and Smitty were not only lying about how good he sounded, but they agreed to tour with a lead singer that had no voice and couldn't sing the old stuff anymore? I don't buy that for a second.

Can't wait to hear the new stuff. It's being said that he sounds like Frontiers/ROR era and still has all of the great TBF vocal emotion. If that's true......WOW! Even if it's just recording, that's enough. Touring may be too much to ask, but maybe some isolated performances could be hoped for.

By the way - nice find....they all sound happy to be together again! It's so sad that it has ended up the way it did :(
They should all listen to that interview again...maybe it would make them think back to the good old days!

You're right. Steve and Neal even joke about the size of their noses! It IS sad that it's come to this. Lack of patience fractured the stone, and I don't care if they had to wait 10 MORE years. If you're friends, and with the legacy they had, you would wait. You just do. Especially if someone is leary of having life-altering, major surgery. It's not like SP was saying "I just don't know if I really WANT to tour". But now you have a Franken-Journey out there sounding good, but will never, ever be the same.

Sad indeed.

Friends? Are you kidding? He left ROR tour and acted like maybe for a few years. They never heard from him all those years, ten years. He began work on the defunct CD and the FTLOSM CD and tour. He also did the memorial and contacted Herbie about it and asked him to get the Faithfully lyrics. He didn't ask Neal or Jon about it. Strange. There was no friendship. They were lured into thinking this time would be different, but he didn't want to tour. They all went their own way. Perry retired and Neal kept on keeping on. .

Hell, yeah.

The bigger question isn't about Steve with Journey as that isn't going to happen. It was effectively over since '87 for all intents and purposes except for a brief reunion album pushed for by Sony.. It's why Perry, who coveted a solo career so much, has done nothing for 12 years. Someone who loved singing and was so emotional about it and the music-making process, I don't get it. That's what I wonder about.
