The Journey BTM was (actually) perry BTM.

The largest buying demographic in music today?
According to the 2007 RIAA Consumer survey: http://www.riaa.com/keystatistics.php?c ... umertrends
Age
10-14 Years - 11.5 %
15-19 Years - 12.3 %
20-24 Years - 11.3 %
25-29 Years - 9.2 %
30-34 Years - 11.3 %
35-39 Years - 11.9 %
40-44 Years - 7.9 %
45+ Years - 24.8 %
So ages 30 and older comprise 55.9% of the music buyers.
This fits with the declining birthrate over the last 40 years... meaning there will be fewer teen buyers, because there are simply fewer teens.
Perry's best bet is to target the same audience that loved him when he was with Journey... cause there's simply more of them. When you factor in the international audience, where Perry is worshiped AND the limited resurgence Journey has gotten so far... which reminds people of Perry.. it all adds up to Perry not having any problem selling... none at all..
Great post with actual facts. I agree 100%

Perry will have no problem selling. It's whether he can have a Gold album. Last time he did but that was 15 years ago. And he toured on that one. So the question isn't can his new CD be successful? Absolutely. But it's relative to how many CDs? Can he hit Gold? I wonder. Gunbot says he will need a package, like maybe Wal-Mart deal. I agree. A one-time DVD concert would be a big boon to sales of the CD, especially since it's doubtful Perry will tour.

Perry already has a pretty nice package. Sorry, but you just make it TOO easy.

Then maybe we can find out if there is in fact a new album and if we will ever get a listen.
I dont think it would get many viewers to be honest. He is distant memory apart from his few "faithful fans"

It's not vocals from David Lee Roth, Sammy Hager, Michael Bolton, Heart, Cheap Trick, REO, Ted Nugent, Alice Cooper, E.T.C. It;s a market and exposure ring-of-fire waiting to roll down a mountain with the right combination of smarts and marketing. Done the right way, it;s like i said, "Who is this guy on the radio or on tour". He;s different than anybody in terms of sound and talent. Even with a 60-year old voice, were talking about SMFP.

For those that don't have all of Journey's albums and know the amazing voice and vocals of Perry, hearing Open Arms or Faithfully or Oh, Sherrie, doesn't jump out at you like a voice that is so above other great songs or vocals on the radio. I've never been listening to the radio, had Perry come on and somebody stop and carry on about his voice from the song Oh, Sherrie, like he was above others. That comes from hearing song after song of his on albums to truly appreciate the greatness of his vocals. We, his fans, sometimes have a distorted view of how a casual listener views him compared to other favorite bands and singers of theirs.

He would have no problem turning a profit/selling but he would not have a gold record. And I think he need not to make $. Bet he could turn a profit moving 80-100K units.
The issue will be would he want to put out a record that will underperform compared to Journey's Revelation?
