That Azus dude should have his head examined... for thinking that a $2500 retainer is all it would cost to get Perry... I remember reading that Journeys retainer was in the 6 figures... I would bet Perry's would be north of $50K

Yes that should have been a big RED flag......I wonder why Azus has not made some kind of formal statement. I would want to clear my name if someone had put me out there like that.

Yawn. No one even cared about this supposed concert. I didn't see in on VH-1, MTV or any music magazines even mention it. It got zero traction. It made the Honolulu paper and that's about it. Google searches turn up almost nothing...6 small articles and blogs that all basically parrot what the Honolulu article said. It seemed orchestrated to gauge interest and there was none. Operation "toes in the water" = FAIL.

Horseshit, SJ.

This was some random whack-job trying to pull concert promo version of a Nigerian scam.

If it had been legit and had been out longer than a week... it would have been all over the music outlets... it simply wasn't out long enough for it to be confirmed...

Valid point, but the fact that it happened and didn't get any press makes you wonder how many people even cared. certainly no music entities seemed to. Had this been a relevant contemporary artist like, say, Garth Brooks it would have attracted huge attention. Perry isn't a household name anymore. Not saying that can't/won't change, but right now he isn't.

Perry without Journey would be like Joe Elliot without Leppard. People will be like, "Where's the rest of the guys?"

Fans have gotten over it and just want to hear those great songs Perry helped make performed live. He's not missed that much anymore. A reunion with him would be great, but it seems like he's not interested or can't do it.

See, I look at it in the complete opposite way. If I want to hear the songs played live - I'll pop in the Houston DVD, or my Frontiers & Beyond DVD, or pop in GH Live.....the concerts are totally a social engagement, and a lame excuse to get trashed, rent hotel rooms, and try to hook up....

There's really nothing wrong with any of those things (unless you're married then "hooking up is/should be out) unless of course you can't. Fun times, man.

If Perry were smart (which fiscally, he appears to be) he would bleed a single here and there onto Itunes during AI's annual run and have Randy pimp the songs for him. No tours, no record contracts, just 70% of the cut like every other artist gets from Apple. It's better then putting out an album and seeing it debut at #193 on the Hot 200 Chart.

If he did what you suggest before he released an album I think it would be in the top 10. Then release it to itunes a bit later.

Whoever/whomever it was that tried to scam money...I don't think they're fans of SP.

From what I've read about some here, the concerts are just an excuse to party.
