They might start buy letting go of all the useless clerks that move slower than snail poop behind those counters. 4-5 people behind the counter, only one actually waiting on people, and taking her sweet ass time doing it, too.

The problem is that the execs won't take a pay cut, in fact, they've gotten HUGE raises....and the union wants us(carriers) to contribute to a thing called 'COLCPE' which stands for 'Commitee on Letter Carrier Political Education', in other words....PAYOLA for political types to help save our jobs...

We actually have to grease the palms of Washington to save our hides.....and in the end - it looks like it won't help.

Currently letter carriers come in early in the morning and 'case' a route. Which means there is a case with slots for every address on the route, in order of delivery. We have buckets of mail we have to slot into the addresses. The letter mail runs through a machine and it puts the letter mail(DPS) in order of the route. The FSS(flat sorting machines) are supposed to do for magazine size mail what the letter machines do for the DPS....as of right now the carriers have about 2 hrs worth of office time doing this casing of magazine size mail....the new plan is to have these FSS machines do it, thus reducing the office time per carrier to roughly 30 mins versus 2 hrs. And also increasing street time by the amount of time office time is decreased. And the only way to do that is by getting rid of routes, splitting them up strategically - and adding to existing routes(making them longer)....So instead of 2 hr office, and 6 hour street - we'll have 30 mins office and 7 1/2 hours street...

What a clusterfuck.....

Too bad Blago is out of a job now. This is right up his dirty little alley.
Get Roland Burris on the case. He's a disciple of the Blago Court.
