According to Fact Finder she is. In presidential politics, you are always running for office.

and it's a personal attack on ANY of her daughters.

It was a fucking joke. Get over it.

she has the time NOW to fight back, when campaigning she didn't have time to fight every attack... and there were many.

Boo-fucking-hoo. Thank God for the Media actually doing Mccain's job and actually VETTING this hollow headed bitch. The media saved America from even further embarrassing itself. She will never see the Oval office. Drop the dream already.

i thought i smelled poop.

dearest fucktart,

my post was in reply to jana who was asking why palin didn't repond to leno's jokes like she is to letterman's. just pointing out the fact that she was in the middle of campaigning for the presidental election. there was a lot of things thrown at her. she had no time to address every attack.

nice try trying to twist what i was getting at. i see you tried to make it sound like i was whining. i was just answering a question asked by jana.

so if you're okay with jokes about children can we start a joke thread where we just crack jokes about you & your family? i'm sure we can get at least 10-20 pages.

No, Tree, I also said, giving her the benefit of the doubt back then, it's all over the internet now and being discussed about it many places and she's fully aware of it, and since she's still not letting the Letterman thing go and continuing on with it, she should be raking Leno over the coals too in the media for such a horrible joke. She's not. I don't see Leno apologizing either.

Letterman's punishment should have been a prompt apology and he failed. He only aplogized when they lost their first big sponsor. Had that not happened I doubt he would have aplogized. To me, that apology doesn't mean shit now. His new punishment should be trying to keep up with Todd Palin in a drinking contest.

No it isn't something to joke about, but sure as Hell should be raised, when the VP candidate preaches homegrown values bullshit, ...then her daughter goes out and opens em up to a guy named Levi. Jesus Christ, you couldn't write a script this fucking retarded. The Palins are an American joke.

If that's punishment, add me to the list. I deserve a lot of punishment under your rules. I could drink that snowmobiling freak under an Alaskan glacier. I'm in awe of that guy though- His old lady has tons of bank, a shitload of power and he gets that every night. You know she prances around the Mansion in an official State of Alaska baby doll and heels and asks Toddy to "give her a hand" in the kitchen. Gives new meaning to three fingers and milk.

As I recall you and Lula aren't married either...what does that have to do with that price of tea in China? Shit happens. That's life and all the other trite bullshit statements.

In my VERY presence you have made family values comments...

Hypocrit much Deano?  Should I now judge YOU and Lula on those comments??? No, I shouldn't, nor would I.

Get a grip man...we all know you despise Palin...give it a rest...Now...you have a daughter...of roughly Palin's daugters age...do you think YOU have any control over her??? How would YOU react if she came home knocked up to a kid named whatever?

Should I judge YOU in that situation based on what your rebellious teen daughter did??? No.

Oh and for the record I think the whole Letterman thing is overblown, by the Palins and by Letterman...he made a very bad joke...and the Palins reacted, as would I had Letterman made it about my daughter...but only in America can it rise to the level that it has...

Straw Dick,

I don't go around preaching ridiculous family values at every turn there big guy. That's what you fuckin conservatives do. I preach party, fun and more party. BIG difference.

As for my daughter, she is old enough to make her own mind up what to do and she can sleep in the bad she makes. I will support her, but wouldn't spaz out if some comedian joked about her, especially after she fucked up.

And I would put 10W/40 in her Spoon Sized Shredded Wheat if she ever dated a dude named levi.

I was wondering when this topic would come up here. By far the funniest post was Dean comparing aspects of this issue to members of Journey. I guess that's one way to ensure it's not another OT thread... :)

I don't think Letterman should be fired. I think he should be punished in some manner though. I think this comment is no less inflammatory than the comment made by Don Imus. If Letterman didn't know who he was talking about, he shouldn't have made the statement. It was totally wrong to make that comment about a 14 year old, who is still really a child. I don't care whose child it is. I have an 11 year old daughter, and if something like that were said about her, I'd rip his scrotum off and feed it to Ginger's cat!

Regarding Leno's comment about Bristol and John Edwards, I guess one could argue that the nature of the statement, while similar, wasn't as incredulous. He implied something very close to what Letterman said, but didn't come right out and say 'knocked up' or whatever words Letterman actually said. The crude level wasn't quite as high. Also, Bristol isn't totally innocent. She got pregnant at 17 out of wedlock. It was public knowledge and discussed in the media, even by the Palin family. I would think that would curb any significant expressions of outrage by them, but maybe I'm wrong.

Unfortunately, that's what these guys do. Palin is an easy target for some. I just think the kids should be off-limits.

Todd Palin is hot, and I think he'd be awesome to party with. I wonder if he likes Journey? 8)

Yeah ok...since party, fun and more party is a way to lead a successful life.

Admit it, you wouldn't want your daughter sleeping with, let alone being knocked or marrying a guy with your loosely calibrated moral compass.

Not that there is anything wrong with how you live your life, it works for you, but I KNOW you want your kids to have a better life than you; ALL parents do.

Party, fun, and more party is not a way to a better life in most cases.

Donna, he wasn't referring to the 14-year-old. He came out and said he was referring to the 18-year-old. The older daughter was in town also with mom, and he thought he was referring to her and thought she was the one at the game, not the younger one. He said he would never ever make a comment about a 14-year-old. But admitted even talking about the older daughter in the joke was poor taste and indefensible, and it was. Leno's joke was, in essence, a pregnant 17-year-old was pregnant by a 58-year-old man, or however old he was. I don't excuse him in the least just b/c he didn't say knocked up. The meaning is what it is.

Clinton got away with it, why not Ensign, shit Barney Frank is still allowed in the club.

Just because Clinton or Barney Frank get away with shit is no reason to condone behavior that falls below the standards you set.

The Republicans say the adhere to a higher standard...if they do as they say they do, he should be gone.

Christ this is problem with this country...every looks at others poor behavior and says, "Well THEY did it too!" rather than own up to their mistakes and take bashing they deserve.

It's called selective morality, and it sucks.

Both parties could do with a good washing out.

Of course it will never happen.

I know he says that he was referring to Bristol, but it's really easy to pull that one out after the fact. None of us really know if he's telling the truth or not. That's why I said if he didn't have his facts straight, he should've kept his mouth shut. Leno was much more vague in his comment. If what I read earlier in this thread is actually what was said, it was more of a suggestion about a connection between the two. Of course we can all read through the lines. I guess to me Leno's comment was tasteless and Letterman's was over the line. That may not make sense to anyone, but that's how I see it. Of course I wouldn't have wanted either comment to be made about my daughters, so I guess that's a double standard in itself. Easy for us to sit here behind our keyboards and critique others, huh?

Let's make a deal.

I remove the super sexy girl av and you refrain from cat pics. Sound good? :)

Ginger without cat pics?

NO negotiations........... Andrew did not ask me to refrain from those!   So MEOW BABE!

Haven't put one up in a while...........but since SC loves them so...............................

An indicator of a good message board going south is when its littered with cat pics. Unless its a pet lovers forum I guess.

Sugar I only added that because you told me to not add them. I think it has been a while since I added a cat pic because Deano said he did not care for them............I could care less if I ever add another cat pic on this site. But you guys litter it up with half dressed ladies. So is it a Playboy site?

I am not the only woman here who has added cat pics either. Read any birthday thread!

That's my point. The cat pics have a way of becoming ubiquitous. One starts and its a pile on of lolcats. I try to stay out of the Bday threads. I remember Deano's post but I think I mentioned it in this thread before that.

http://forums.melodicrock.com/phpBB/vie ... 13&start=0

I don't mind them randomly as anything can be used for comedy. Niggy's piano playing cat above is hilarious.

Not intended to single you out but you complained about my super sexy beauty av so I offered a deal.

Your son probably liked the av pic, if not yet, someday. This forum isn't pg13, more like R rated. :)

The two comments were the exact same. Leno's joke inferred that John Edwards got the daughter pregnant and Letterman made a joke that her daughter was "knocked up by Alex Rodriguez" during the game.

Its is REALLY CLEAR that he was making a joke based on the fact that the older daughter had been pregnant, and not suggesting that Alex Rodriguez would have sex with a 14 year old. I mean really, this has been blown way out of proportion.

You would think if anything was going to spark THIS much unrest, it would have been the Leno joke, because not only was it during the campaign, but also after the Edwards scandal, and Leno slammed both Palin's daughter AND John Edwards.

But no one batted a freakin' eye.

Someone on the show had to ok that joke other than Letterman. I have no way of knowing for sure, but I'd bet he didn't write it, he just read it off the teleprompter. I'm sure he has final say on what he says on that show, but he's not the only one culpable in this ordeal. But he's the figurehead, so he gets the blame, which goes with the job I guess.

Me, I thought the joke was in very poor taste, but I sure wouldn't expect to see him fired for it.
