LORI POSTED RE THEIR CONCERT WITHOUT DEEN:

Wednesday, June 24, 2009 - 1:24 pm - LC73
Neal just called me and said they all did a good job and Steve Toomie helped get the job done so major congrats! (They were on live TV to boot; no pressure there!)

Not an easy task as he has never run thru the music before with the band; mostly just sound checking the drums, ect.

My total respect goes out to him.

Only just read this!
Have they disclosed what the problem with Deen's health is, or is it being kept secret?
Or don't they actually know yet?

I hope he is ok.

MORE FROM LORI'S BLOG ON DEEN I FORGOT TO POST EARLIER:

"Deen will be doing well very soon here I know. It's good the doc's wanted him to rest a bit more for extra precautions. That's what good doctors do.

He's a young one still and he will bounce back with a vengeance I know! His energy is off the charts, so I am sending all my support and well wishes along with all of yours and look forward to his speedy recovery and for him to be feeling great again.

LC

p.s. I have a brother exactly like him..so much so it's unbelievable! Same amount of energy too, it's crazy. If they aren't staying busy working, they don't know what to do with themselves-LOL!"

I thought about that. Deen's energy is wild. He's ADD or ADHD I think he said and hates to sit around. Can you imagine him laying in a hospital?

Hey Deano, just curious...did you speak with Smith or anyone in his camp about this? I'm not doubting you or your sources, just wondering what the thoughts were on their side of the fence. I saw Smith play a number of times that year and know that he's usually booked solid throughout the year. Between his gigs and countless clinics and drum camps, sure I could see sitting in for a nice paying gig or two with Journey, but I would be surprised if he would put his career on hold for an extensive Journey tour. Then again, I still can't tell if your new avatar is Rush Limbaugh or Dennis Hof of the Bunny Ranch....

There's no way Steve Smith could pull it off if they needed him to fill in. His schedule is booked solid:

I am a drummer with ADHD so I can relate. My mind never stops unless I'm sleeping, and I have energy to burn. I know what it's like to get up there and play drums for 3-4 hours in unbearable heat. I almost passed out during a summer festival that my band was playing when the temp was about 98 degrees. It's much more of an aerobic workout than playing guitar or keys. I'm not in a band right now, and with this hot and humid midwest heatwave we're having right now, I'm not missing it. You definitely have to be very healthy to play drums in a band like Journey night after night.
