Hail Chickenfoot!

Postby Eyeof » Fri Jun 26, 2009 1:05 pm

Man, I just can't get enough of this CD!

I just want to thank Sammy and MA for this album. I never thought I'd hear that harmony again. When I listen to 'Learning to Fall' it's like I've been transported back to 1988 or something...that harmony with the band Sammy and Anthony...wow....haven't heard that in that form since 0u812 i think....

I love this album front to back and top to bottom...

Since buying, I've went back and watched my Live Without a Net at least three times and my Chickenfoot tickets are coming in the mail! It's really nice to be excited about a new CD!

This is not meant to start some silly DLR/Sammy war...I saw that concert as well last year and liked it...But, the thing I did not like about it, is that to have no sammy songs at all, just not right. At least with Sammy they sang a few DLR tunes...

By the way, I went and bougth HSAS today, just to get a feel for that as well....Too bad Planet Us didn't get off the ground more....

Agreed. This is a great rock album. Just what we all needed, since there is so much crap out there.

Chickenfoot rocks! You can tell they're having fun, and don't care about the usual band B.S., they've all been through it.

I got my tix for L.A.! :D

I expected the guitar work to be a whole lot busier, thank God I was disapointed! It all works so good, very cool stuff! Sammy is just a freak he sounds so good. What is it with him anyways, the older he gets the better he sounds. Smith and M.A. are tuned too, not a shocker there for sure. Im pumped, cant wait to see them.

If your talking about the HSAS cd, I just don't see it. I am a huge Hagar fan, go everything he has done...But HSAS just plain sucked to me. And it has my favorite guitarist on Neal Schon. Between the two it should have been out of this world, but it wasn't.
I even listened to it this past week, got a new home theater, and it was one of 3 cds I paicked to give first spins on it. I just don't see what other people hear in it.

But I hope you like it.

I don't like it. I love it. Great melodies, great singin' & playin.' It beat the pants off VOA and is every bit the equal of 5150 if not better.

I'm not sure what you were expecting fron it. Journey-esque ballads?

I don't know how anyone can dislike HSAS. The story about how they recorded it makes it even more incredible.

i can see why some people dont like the hsas or chickenfoot, but i love both, the chickenfoot really grows on you, the hooks just arnt up front, as for the hsas recordings, they wrote the songs, then played some live shows, recorder the tracks at those shows and mixed down and made the cd\lp from the live recordings.

Neal had to overdub on live recordings with no click track, that's what made it tough.
i.e. the acoustic intro of Whiter Shade of Pale. He nailed it though.

That's what blows me away about HSAS. Those are live recordings sans audience noise. Sammy sounds un-f**king-real. Neal burns it up in a way that makes it seem he's reining it in on Journey.

To record their album, the band played live dates from November 9, 1983 to November 21, 1983 at the Westwood One Mobile Facility. Two of the dates, November 14 and November 15 in San Jose, California were recorded and broadcast by MTV. (This footage was aired at least once but was never released on official videotapes or DVDs.) The Through the Fire album was edited in-studio to remove the crowd noise, but otherwise was left as recorded.

i dont think thats totally true, i believe the basic track were recorded live, and overdubs were added in the studio.
the original mtv broadcast had 3 songs not on the album 2 of which really rock and should have been.

The movie was okay, but what I love about the movie is the blond. Can't remember her name right now, but I remember she had been in a TV show called The Powers Of Matthew Starr (or something like that).
