Should the Michael Jackson Band Get a YouTube Singer?

Postby Voyager » Thu Jul 02, 2009 5:26 am

I was just thinking about how successful Journey has been by replacing their lead singer and going on tour. I couldn't help but wonder if the Michael Jackson band members should follow Journey's lead and do the same thing? I mean, the only difference is that Michael's band used his personal name to tour with instead of a band name like Journey. However, we all know that it's not Keith Richards or Charlie Watts that people pay to see when they go to a Rolling Stones concert - it's Mick Jagger. So if the Stones lost Mick, according to the Journey/Foreigner/Queen principle, they should be able to replace him with an impersonator and still tour. Why would it be different with Michael Jackson?

If a band can replace Steve Perry with an impersonator and go on a successful tour, I see no reason why it couldn't be done with Michael Jackson. I think they should keep the Michael Jackson concert dates on the books and pay Neal Schon a consulting fee to help them find a replacement for Michael on YouTube. Why cancel all the shows and refund the money when a new singer and a fat paycheck are only a few mouse clicks away?

There's a couple great black singers that will be uploading their videos, once they get their skin bleached and their nose jobs heal.

I didn't know there was such a thing as the "MJ band". I bet there will be buttloads of tribute acts that come out of this though.

If you find any of them on YouTube, post them here. Who knows, maybe MJ's band members will do a Google search for "Michael Jackson replacement singer" and this thread will come up, giving them a few YouTube singers to choose from. Hell, somebody could probably make a living managing YouTube singers and hooking them up with classic acts when their singer retires or dies. Somebody could have banked if they would have brokered the Journey/Arnel deal... but Neal went direct to YouTube himself.

Yeah, I can just see how many people right as we are typing out this post, are hard at work in their houses right now getting themselves all MJ'd out and are about to shoot a vid to post on youtube. One person may get the job to play the part in a movie or something about MJ's life and all. Will I go to see a movie like that.....no. I seen as much as I need to. Hell we all pretty much lived it since we're all from that era.

I think I saw this guy on the street in Vegas. He was really good.
NO. He's NOT Steve F'ing Perry. But he's Arnel F'ing Pineda and I'm okay with that.
