Not only do they drink from the leaves, but they get high on them also
Stoned koalas!?Interesting factoid... and also, cool band name!!
Semi-factoid - they don't actually get stoned, but their system spends so much time processing and eliminating the poisons in their food that they spend most of their time asleep conserving energy. One of the reasons why they tend to be grumpy little sods, and why their urine smells like a men's urinal liberally splashed with eucalyptus oil (and is incredibly hard to get out of clothes!)
Something you might not have known - the closest relation to the koala is the wombat. Koalas are wombats that learned to climb trees, and their pouchs still have the opening towards their hindlegs; makes perfect sense for a burrowing animal that doesn't want a pouch full of dirt, not so sensible in an animal that climbs trees.
I have got to visit Australia one day!
My spare bed is your spare bed, darling.
