If that had been my daughter, Emily, he slapped that dude could be in line for the next lead singer of Journey b/c I'd grab him by the balls & I wouldn't stop twisting 'till he hit the high note on "Faithfully."

Nobody touches my daughter. I'd make a tenor out of him!!!!!

Heck, what he did was wrong!

However, when I was a kid my mom would have and did do it to me herself...and if a slap didn't work, there was always a razor strap waiting for me at home...or mom would just send me out to sit with dad in the car.

STONE MOUNTAIN, Ga. -- A Wal-Mart shopper who became so angry about a crying child that he allegedly slapped the girl in the face is due in court Thursday morning, officials announced Wednesday.
Investigators said the incident happened Monday at the Stone Mountain store on Rockbridge Road.
A police report said the man, Roger Stephens, 61, of Stone Mountain, had warned the child’s mother, Sonya Mathews, that if she didn’t quiet down the child, he would do it for her.
According to the report, after the mother failed to quiet the girl, Stephens came up to them and slapped the child several times in the face.
The report then quotes Stephens as saying, “See, I told you I would shut her up.”
Mathews then screamed at Stephens and called for security, the report said. Stephens was stopped by another shopper, according to the report.
The girl, identified in the report as Paige Mathews, 2, was not injured, but did suffer some redness in the face. She was treated at the scene and released, the report said.
Stephens was charged with cruelty with children in the first degree, which is a felony.

All he needed to do was to look at the kid. Why even lay his hands on the poor tyke?

Big deal. So why didn't he slap the mother instead for bad parenting. Wal-Mart of all places, not surprising.

Give him his bottle, of course ;)
Why treat life as a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving in an attractive & well-preserved body? Get there by skidding in sideways, a glass of wine in one hand, chocolate in the other, body totally worn out, screaming WOOHOO! What a ride!

Pretty scary guy  ..yes you can be a litle upset because the scream from an spoiled kid, but take an violent action, threat the mother and then slapping the little girl is unjustifiable; of course this action have nothing to do with the child problably have more to do with this guy own issues, hope that violence for him won't be the only way he can communicate his anger :?

Yea, please come and touch my kid, douchebag, I'm in the mood to whip someone's ass. It's been a couple years. If you don't like what my kid is doing, walk the hell away. Please stay and reach for my daughter and watch me break your arm in 3 places. Then I can ask for security as you sceam for help.

What a piece of shit this guy is. Mind your own fucking business or deal with the consequences.

Unfortunately MadSplash, there are people out there who "actually train" to fight, everyday. (I'm not talking about the old man either) and they don't care about the average joe who is upset, in fact they love the angry ones. It's good and well saying things, however! sometimes it's best to just walk away while you still have the chance, you never know who your fighting, and what they will bring to the table. Sure "IF" somebody hurts your child, do something about it, however if you fail? then what.

Fighting is bad bad bad. Unless you know how, don't bother, I'm serious don't bother.

Agreed, Mikey. To even ADVOCATE slapping a two year old is the height of insanity. She was TWO for fucks sake! You wanna say something to the parent, that's fine. You don't touch the child. Hell, sack up and SLAP the parent if you want, but not the child. I hope they put this fucker in jail.

I was watching my local news tonight and they covered this story. I am so pissed right now. How the hell could that mother let him get away with this? (No, I'm NOT blaming the mother, but I'm just saying). If it had been me, they would have taken my ass off in hand cuffs because I would have went off on his ass! What the hell is this world coming too? You can't even go to Walmart without your child getting abused! This is just pure bullshit. :x :x :x

The man is an abusive monster. Two year olds throw tantrums, it happens. If you hate kids don't go in public. And a slap is abuse. I would have kicked this man so hard he would be singing Higher than Perry ever did! The child was probably tired and late for a nap. This does not mean she deserved being hit what 6 times by this creap? The man even looks like an old crank. I hope they throw the book at him!

Either way, that's an old(er) man. I'm sure any one of us in here could make him say "Uncle" without too much effort. The real issue would be the legal/civil bullshit you'd have to wade through afterward.

Nope, there is nowhere in this thread I condone his actions, I said "Big deal" and really, it is not a big deal (nobody died or got injured). Was he wrong for hitting the child, of course he was!. And if madsplash directed that post towards me, I will put a serious complaint towards Andrew for this, I will not take this slander here.

Thanks.
