That's a stupid comment... sadly I dont think many other people on this forum will agree but that comment it very small minded.

True, I don't really like a lot of rap/hip-hop, but I really like Aesop Rock and a few other assorted songs from a few other rap/hip-hop people. I try to give each genre of music a chance; though that's not to say I like every genre of music (I hate country, for instance).

Sorry for agreeing so late, but I AGREE WITH EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THESE. I just forgot about them because I hated them that much. ESPECIALLY Nickelback and Avenged Sevenfold.

Also,

*Bring me the Horizon
*Slipknot
*Korn
... and whatever other crappy bands the people in my highschool listen too. teenagers in general have shitty taste in music, and I'm not even being snobby here. :x

I've warmed up to Slipknot in recent years... their newer stuff is really closer to thrash metal at this point, and their songwriting has definitely stepped up a notch on the latest 2 releases, which is why the fans of the first album tend to dislike those albums. They're actually getting more melodic as well. Still not a big fan of the first album at all. Iowa is ok, but vol. 3 and the newest are actually pretty damn good, in my opinion.

Why couldn't you just say that in the beginning? Why make up lies and degrade the guy, when it's obvious you are clueless about which you speak? The guy doesn't walk on water, but to call him a "has been?" Name me one artist right now who is bigger. Name one band that can outdraw E Street. You can't. Ok, so then plan C goes into play- "just my opinion." Sure, but while it's your opinion, and you're entitled to it no matter how wrong it is, please don't spew lies and falsities. Born in the USA is about being from a great place, but also questioning your country when needed. Bruce has always said, "Question authority, but do so in a respective manner." I love how Reagan used the song in 1980 for his campaign, when he was also clueless about what it meant. I love how the idiotic Teabaggers also used it last weekend for whatever kick they are now on. Fools.

'think you mean 1984? :?

Sorry Mr. Perfect. Jesus Christ, 1980, 1984, what the Hell's the difference? Reagan was in office 8 fuckin years anyway. Bruce wrote that song in 1979-1980 after reading Born on the Fourth of July by Ron Kovic. He finally finished it up in 1983. It was one of the 7 top ten singles from the album with the same name. IIRC, no other album has produced 7 top 10 hits.

Actually 2 others have...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Bi ... milestones

7 each - Most top ten songs from one album:

Michael Jackson - Thriller;
Bruce Springsteen - Born in the USA
Janet Jackson - Janet Jackson's Rhythm Nation 1814

Then take me disappearin' through the smoke rings of my mind,
Down the foggy ruins of time, far past the frozen leaves,
The haunted, frightened trees, out to the windy beach,
Far from the twisted reach of crazy sorrow.

Yes, to dance beneath the diamond sky with one hand waving free,
Silhouetted by the sea, circled by the circus sands,
With all memory and fate driven deep beneath the waves,
Let me forget about today until tomorrow.

Cinderella, she seems so easy
"It takes one to know one," she smiles
And puts her hands in her back pockets
Bette Davis style
And in comes Romeo, he's moaning
"You Belong to Me I Believe"
And someone says," You're in the wrong place, my friend
You better leave"
And the only sound that's left
After the ambulances go
Is Cinderella sweeping up
On Desolation Row

And I hope that you die
And your death'll come soon
I will follow your casket
In the pale afternoon
And I'll watch while you're lowered
Down to your deathbed
And I'll stand o'er your grave
'Til I'm sure that you're dead

"There must be some way out of here," said the joker to the thief,
"There's too much confusion, I can't get no relief.
Businessmen, they drink my wine, plowmen dig my earth,
None of them along the line know what any of it is worth."

"No reason to get excited," the thief, he kindly spoke,
"There are many here among us who feel that life is but a joke.
But you and I, we've been through that, and this is not our fate,
So let us not talk falsely now, the hour is getting late."

All along the watchtower, princes kept the view
While all the women came and went, barefoot servants, too.

Outside in the distance a wildcat did growl,
Two riders were approaching, the wind began to howl.

Sorry... no one who can write song lyrics as unbelievably awesome as these belongs on this list...

This goes out to Wastingbeerz & ebake02:

Ouch, on the EMO music reference. Can I possibly persuade you guys (or gals) to bend the rules a little when it comes to The Cure? They're pretty good. Give these next few songs a listen. You might not recognize these songs by their names, but you'll recognize them once the music starts playing:

Lovesong ~ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P4SZhumbv0s

Just Like Heaven ~ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ORc5Td_T6og

Friday, I'm In Love ~ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wa2nLEhUcZ0

Lullaby ~ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tYtYe9K6zv4

That last one might be a little too "Beetlejuice" for the average non-EMO music fan, but it's still a good song if you can just overlook the white pasty make-up.

If you're going to call Bruce a "has-been" then you had better call Perry the same thing, as per your nutty definition of "has-been." Turnabout is fair play, and all that.

The only thing you can compare Bruce to Perry on is they both wore jeans tight enough to show some Moose-Knuckle!! Perry rocks...."MY OPINION"!!

Any so-called singer who lipsynchs concerts, uses ProTools magic in the studio because they really can't sing, and does not write or contribute to their own material should not be called an artist - that annoys the hell out of me.

I told you this earlier in this thread, but here you go

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nickelback

The band is now based in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Its name originates from the nickel in change that band member Mike Kroeger gave customers at his Starbucks job, he would frequently say, "Here's your nickel back".[13]

I agree beerz.

I do think I've heard that the drummer and maybe even the guitar player are pretty talented and can play some good stuff, but I hate when people try and rebut dislike of a band with that stuff. I don't like the songs and they don't show that skill in the band, so I don't care!

By that logic I oughta enjoy every predictable, vapid chick flick that a great actor/actress has starred in because they are talented

They're not my favourite, but I like some of their songs: 'Someday' and 'Gotta Be Somebody'. You can really hear Mutt Lange's influence in GBS. Truth be told, I don't like the song 'Rockstar' either, but I thought stevew would appreciate the video!

We don't have a lot of Canadian rock bands achieve the level of success that Nickelback is currently enjoying and we're proud of them for that! They are hit hard by critics and blasted for being unoriginal, but are critic-proof - they've sold 30M albums worldwide in nine years and are still going strong with a loyal fanbase. I don't own any of their albums, but I wouldn't mind going to one of their concerts and seeing what they offer live.

Thanks TS - I should have remembered they were originally from Hanna! It's only about a 2 hour drive from Olds, and I spent a lot of time there when I was younger and summer vacations meant trips to visit the relatives. (No Wally World for me!)

I enter:

Bette Midler
Liza Minnelli
Yoko Ono.

I would have to agree to “anything Rap” and “anything Country” but I didn’t want to list those simply because I am aware that there are in my opinion very few exceptions with both. So I wanted to find the ones that absolutely have no exceptions what so ever.

 Me either - Deb and I just talked about that in a thread awhile ago - she got Vegas vacations, we did Sylvan Lake! (And yes we are proud of our successful Canadian bands  )

Except Adam Lambert, dude can sing his ASS off. Definitely deserves a shot to sing for Queen. Just hope he doesn't burn out his vocal cords in a few month doing those insanely beyond insane high notes.

But yeah, pretty much everyone else has been stale pop and whatnot. Typical manufactured careers.
Shop smart. Shop S-Mart. YOU GOT THAT?
