Postby Richard Epps » Thu May 07, 2009 8:48 pm

If you go to Jimi's myspace site you can hear a track called Chisled In Stone. This was a track that was recorded for Crossroads Moment, but didn't make the final cut. It's a really good track in my opinion.

This track was a particular favorite of Jimi's and at one point was in the running to be the title track.

ORRRRRRRRRRR

I could just listen to the song the way it is and enjoy it! Now that's a great idea.

Why is it that people feel the need to rip a song apart and compare/complain all the time?

NEVER said anything about the song besides the guitar riff.....this is not the Journey forum where we need to argue or throw personal attacts....I made an observation about the guitar riff is all....

I am not one to sit and compare music. What I listen to - I do so because I enjoy it. Yes I have favorite singers and Jamison happens to be one. The music and the singer bring it all together for me. I am not one to listen to see if there are any sort of "rip offs". If it is music and it is good then I listen.

Sorry if you dont like my style - but I am who I am.

I completely agree!!

It's just that it was jarring to me the closeness of the parts....but I agree, if ya listen to find similarities than you are missing the point of the music in the first place...

All good...JV

This kinda thing usually doesn't bother me... as you very, very well know Joe, similarities are bound to happen in rock/pop music, where there are a few "go to" chord progressions in certain keys. Hell, I remember listening to "Radio Nowhere" off of Bruce's Magic a few years ago and thinking "This is fuckin 867-5309, why the hell is The Boss copying Tommy fuckin Tutone?" But then I realized it was a great song regardless and just took it for what it is. So I share your sentiment. This would actually be a fun thread to start... another good one is:

Dream Theater - Trial of Tears vs Rush - Xanadu

Ok I'll have some fun in this. What about Heart's "Never" and Boney M's "Brown Girl In The Ring"?

Anyone have any idea why I can never get the entire song to play when I try to listen to it on Jimi's Myspace page? It always cuts off somewhere around one minute and 20 seconds into it.

I really want to hear this song all the way through!

I've been pretty busy with a lot of stuff, and I'm pretty annoyed with how certain people on the Journey forum have always been allowed to constantly abuse other forum members without having to answer for it. As a result, I'm largely out of the loop on a lot of Journey and Survivor info, unfortunately.

Matt, did you go to any of the Ohio Survivor shows this summer? I had to skip them, which greatly pisses me off.

I had to skip 'em, had conflicts. I'm not going terribly out of my way to go see McSurvivor to be honest. If they played in my backyard I'd go, but driving way out east or south or whereever they've been just doesn't interest me. I'd go downtown at most to see them.

This summer was shitty for concerts... saw Frontiers and Elton John+Billy Joel in May which were both great. After that... I saw Bachman+Cummings in Windsor, Todd Rundgren performing A Wizard a True Star in Akron in September... saw Frankie Valli two weeks ago... awesome. Those last two don't even really count for "summer concerts," either. Didn't seem the venues had much booking money. I'm not going all the way to Blossom to see marginal shows like Poison+Leppard or whatever either. Again, I'd see them downtown somewhere, but not all the way out there and dealing with all that parking and expensive ticket prices.

Didn't get to the Journey show in Youngstown because I waited too long to pull the trigger on the tickets.

"worst" one I ever heard was a song called Hearts on the Loose by Intruder. Listen to it and Survivor's Jackie Don't Go back to back. It's the same song---literally, just with different words.

for your comparison...

Yeah, that Intruder song is a blatant rip off...

Couple of others which are just too close for comfort...

Lec Zorn - Starting All Over Again (aka Caught in the Game) - http://www.geocities.com/leczorn/Starti ... _Again.mp3

Final Frontier - Somebody's Watching You (aka High On You) - http://www.escape-music.com/cds/ESM141/Track06.mp3

(Sorry, couldn't find the full songs online, but you get the idea!)

- Danny.

Common factor in the first two - Tracy White on vocals!

Am I the only one who can't get on with his voice? I love some of the music on Intruders' albums (awesome cover of Runaway on their second album!), the Lec Zorn album, and Shotgun Symphony, but I just don't like his singing and find it hard to get through a whole CD!

I always thought that Survivor kind of repeated Jackie Don't Go when they wrote Popular Girl.

Again, I need to ask, can anyone tell me how I might be able to hear Chiseled In Stone all the way through? I can only listen to it 5 seconds at a time, and it stops all-together about a minute in when I try to listen to it on Jimi's Myspace page.
