Like saying that you saw WCTNGOF live in Maryland in 1986 ( ), I think you're mistaken again. I do not remember Schon directly referring to Augeri as a "pro-tools wonder." He's made off-hand comments about pro-tools singers, but I don't think he ever flat-out called Augeri one.

Unfortunately, that was before Youtube and it has never been on there and I doubt there is a setlist archived anywhere either. So, let's give these guys a pass here, but Steve I'm still calling you and Strangegrey to find this alleged smear from Neal.

The only thing close to this I remember is when Neal and JSS were working together and Neal commented off-hand that there were no pro tools involved with the recording. Maybe it was the Believe In Me video...

He certainly did not say it in multiple places or in well-known, reputable press outlets.

...and Neal saying he was unaware of Tapegate is not smearing Augeri. Because they still haven't admitted that it happened. If they admitted it and made Steve Augeri out to be the only person who wanted to do it, THAT would be smearing Augeri. You can't smear someone when nobody knows that something wrong actually happened.

Absolutely it's smear. It's neal looking to make steve shoulder the blame and responsibility for the issue. If this were a business and a partner was jetisoned from a business with public statements implying that the partner was solely responsible, he'd have a HELL of a case.

And Neal made plenty of explicit and implicit statements regarding Augeri's use of pro-tools....were you a fan of this band prior to JSS being booted? because the majority of these statements were made right after tapegate...

I just don't remember these statements. Maybe the reason why I don't remember is because he didn't come out and say that Augeri was a pro-tools wizard. Maybe you had to be able to read between the lines. I'm only 22...my memory shouldn't be this bad yet.

Um...I dunno. I just found the progression to be that some subtle smearing of the previous guy was always Neal's MO. The off-the-cuff "He's a Jive Mother Fucker" comments about Perry...the allegations/accusations about Augeri's use of studio tricks to get the product, the Pizza shite with JSS....

If they ever let go of arnel, it will never be "we decided to go our seperate ways but Arnel will always be a great contributor to Journey" or something else similar to what you hear when other bands go through a split.

You will likely see some under-handed nasty comments thrown in Arnel's direction...either directly or indirectly. There's no reason to suggest Neal wouldn't do what he's done for years....

you do not know this to be fact~ or is this
another one of those...noone knows,that's what makes
it so much fun statements!!!

I can say I attended several shows and I personally have never heard it live,
this^^^^ would be a factual statement!!

This would be a good question, though, for someone in the know!!!

This is the last Journey lineup ever. If they dump Arnel the band retires. All the "I told ya so's" are gonna come out of the woodwork and have a field day with it, as will the media. The rest of the band members would be lucky to find work.

Hopefully, if that were to happen, by then, Pineda would be able to do whatever he wanted.

Seriously...the reality is that Arnel's position in Journey is tenuous at best.....Arnel has another brain fart and talks to the wrong person in the press, boom...he's gone. Arnel loses his voice, TDK comes to the rescue until they have a viable replacement...then boom...he's gone. Arnel's woman gets a little too pushy with the demands....boom...he's gone. Arnel orders a pizza on Neal's room.....boom...he's gone..

They'll have to act soon then, before there's too much evidence to show Arnel's presence in the band... one album, a dvd... there's still time to pull another switcharoo. That's where they went wrong with, uh, ya know, that other singer. He's all over all kinds of albums and such so they couldn't go "ooops, mulligan!" They tried when they went and found one who looked and sounded just like him to the untrained eye in the back row. They even dressed him in the 70s leather pants and tried to swap our Folgers with decaf! Now they're pretending they didn't do that!
