Mariah Carey's version of the Foreigner classic debuts at #11 on the A/C chart and at #91 on the Hot 100 chart.

I haven't heard it and I'm kinda afraid to click on it. Worse than a rick roll, it'll be ingrained in my brain forever.

Think I'll wait for some reaction posts.

At least one classic rock song got on the Hot 100 chart. None of the bands, Foreigner, Journey, REO, etc have been able to crack that chart over the last ten years. Only Bon Jovi, Aerosmith and U2 have been able to keep getting songs on it this decade.

I'm a little surprised Mariah's still popular. I remember when she went zany and her record company paid her off to go away.

Yeah, at least J and F are making an effort. REO doesn't have a hope nor a prayer anymore.

You'd be surprised. Reo's last album had two Top 20 A/C hits, just like Revelation, despite only selling one eighth of what Journey's album has done.

I'm on the floor laughing. It was kind of nice and enjoyed it well enough until those high squeals with the choir at the end. Comical to watch and hear that part. It's her shtick and it's getting old and she's getting old and needs to stick with the soulfulness of the song. She should have left the choir out of the whole mix and done it straightforward like the beginning of her performance.

Christ! Sounds like she's singing with a cold. And there's more botox in that face than in Neal's. Why the hell do singers do that shit?
Why treat life as a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving in an attractive & well-preserved body? Get there by skidding in sideways, a glass of wine in one hand, chocolate in the other, body totally worn out, screaming WOOHOO! What a ride!

That is a great song, but man, that was awful. She did sound like she had a cold and I think every dog in the state of NY was covering it's ears with those piercing notes at the end.
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort.

It seems only those signed with a big label have the ability to get on mainstream radio and chart like this, no? It proves that even artists who suck can still chart.

That's exactly what I expect and so I've not even watched it. I learned my lesson from that Journey tune turned country song that was posted on that other thread the other day. Bad stuff. I say if it's not broken....don't fix it. I want to remember this song the way I remember it.....being done by Foreigner.

Your welcome! That's my all-time favorite live dvd from ANY band. My favorite song off of it is "That Was Yesterday". I LOVE the intro to the song this way, and I wish they would have released the song with this intro...

Thumbs down. The Foreigner version is one of my favorite songs (it's my ringtone too) and I disapprove of her messing with it.

I'm not a Mariah hater, I just haven't liked anything I've heard from her in a few years.

I haven't liked anything she'd done since about 1994.
