You sure? Super Jam '77 was Journey too. Now maybe there was a Super Jam '79 that had Jrny too, IDK.

The boot being asked about is definitely '79 as I just burned a copy for someone the other day. I am sure it is '79.

Yep, I have the same version of Patiently/Opened the Door on another CD. OTD ends with a tag from Perry saying something like "Hi this is Steve Perry of Journey and you're listening to 'Super Jam' on this radio station.'" I forget exactly what he said because I have that version on my computer at my shop. But I played it earlier just before I replied to this thread. I took it as 'Super Jam' being a radio show that played live concerts(a la King Biscuit) rather than an actual event. But I know what you're referring to with the '77 show.

Hey, how was the Springsteen Spectrum show?

You missed it Art. 33 songs and over 4 hours long. One for the ages.

Holy shit did this version of When You're Alone it Ain't Easy kick ass. My do I miss this.

The guitar solo before Wheel in Sky was killer. Shades of Eruption in the early part.

Thanks. This has been awesome to listen to.

As good as this boot is, someone post the Houston 1980 disc. Even better. Perry never sounded better.

God, I wonder what those 2 reels sound like that Froy has. The ending of Opened the Door is like the end of a great opera or something, lol. After I listened to these tracks the first time I came to believe Journey is the best rock n roll band ever...

Yep, what he does at the end of the '80 version of Patiently is just flat out ridiculous! I love the '79 version, but he goes beyond amazing on the '80 version.

Glad you enjoyed the Springsteen show...I heard nothing but the best about it!

If you could drag '78 over from Plokkerville, he'd agree with you also.

You can take those faggy Mariah Carey-like years when Perry sounded like a cat being raped by John Holmes and throw them into outer fucking space. Escape ushered in the start of the band's best, and most manly, sound. Frontiers was the pinnacle of that sound.

Gregg sounds really good on Just the Same Way. The harmonies on these songs is what I think I miss almost the most. Maybe the organ, too. I can hear Ross, too. Perry harmonizing with Neal's guitar is out of this world...

Yes, thank you Rick. Patiently done here is just awesome but for me what is really cool is the fact that People and Places is here and my friggen album has this huge skip in it. After 20+ (too many more) years of hearing it this way, the skip is almost part of the song! I am so glad to hear the song without the skip

Thanks for sharing.

It's got a great Steve Smith drum solo in La Do Da. Why does Houston get all the good shows?
