Dumb Question - Has anyone ever done this?

Postby marco17 » Wed Nov 04, 2009 4:20 am

Hi All,

Heard some folks at work who were looking for some extra cash on the side talking about maybe looking into doing one of those things that "claims" you can make money by filling out surveys & product feedback forms from home "in your free time." They asked my opinion, and I told them that I would be pretty skeptical. I was wondering if anyone on here has tried that, and whether they are legit or scams. I have my opinion, but just curious.

You have got to be fucking kidding me? Aren't you that dopey fucker from that shithole third world country Bosnia or Hercogovina or some shit that doesn't have running water and whom invented the pencil and parachute? Jesus Christ dude, if it's too good to be true than it is. Get off your lazy ass and go find work. Plow a field, clean up a wagon, build a foot bridge, plunge a toilet(wait there is no running water so fuck that), do anything. Hell, go whore yourself out to the town peasants as they need good lovin too. They can pay you in grapes or whatever the fuck currency you dolts use. Just do something but avoid the scam business.

I don't know about at home. My sister belongs to something that they call you in periodically to come down for about an hour to be in a focus group on a new product and you answer questions after the presentation and they give her like $60 to $100 in cash.

The focus groups where you have to appear in person and take part in do pay. I knew someone who did them all the time, and I've done one or two of them.

This online survey shit is exactly that... b.s. I've know a few people who have signed onto those and very quickly signed back off.

Wow, wow, wow, Deano... I wasn't saying I was doing it. I have a good job, making very good money. I couldn't believe that some of the shleps I work with who also make good enough money that they shouldn't be considering this are. I was just wondering if anyone had any other knowledge, because I assumed it is a scam thing. Wait, you mean the letters I get from the Bosnian girl aren't real??? :)

Along the same lines is a Mystery Shopper. Marco, you'd have to Google it for the details but basically you're sent out to different places as a "spy" of sorts. I used to know someone who did that on the side & she loved it b/c you're pretty much your own boss. How it works is that the company who contracts with you gives you a set amount of cash & they tell you where to go/eat/shop & so forth. You pose as a regular customer & then when you report back to your employer you rate the service you received. If it's a restaurant they send you to, you would rate how well the food was prepared, the atmosphere of the restaurant, the wait time & so forth.

The problem with being a Mystery Shopper is that it doesn't pay real well & it's not the kind of job you can rely on for steady income. If you're just interested in making a little extra spending cash without a whole lot of investment of your time, it's something worth looking into.

LMAO!! The two best things in that thread were this:

"The pencil? Big fuckin' deal. The parachute? Whoa, can't live without that. You should stand on a chair, wrap a necktie firmly around your neck, jam a pencil through your left eye, step off the chair, pull open your parachute, and use a speedometer to gauge your speed. Tell us how that works out for you."

And this:

"That shit has been invading my country! Few weeks back I was in a cab and wanned to kill the driver. He was listening to that atrocity. I hope whoever came up with that music rots in Hell."
