As much as you hang on Arnels nuts, maybe you should be his manager?

Nothing I like more than armchair analysts. I haven't been here in weeks and I come back to the same people doing the same song and dance.

Maybe you should follow your own advice and work on some original material. ;)

I like JSS for Aerosmith. Queen has been after Adam Lambert and I would prefer that. Let's face it. These 2 could front any band.

Tyler is lost in space right now. I would wager he's drinking again. They'll be back, though. Everyone likes a happy ending.
But around town, it was well known...when they got home at night
Their fat and psychopathic wives
Would thrash them within inches of their lives!

Joe Perry Says Aerosmith Not Breaking Up – But They Need A Singer!
Tuesday, November 10, 2009 10:12AM - By Jeffrey Hyatt

http://beatcrave.com/2009-11-10/joe-per ... -a-singer/

The news of Steven Tyler’s exit as lead vocalist for Aerosmith has shaken up the rock n’ roll world. But guitarist Joe Perry says the band will go on – with or without Tyler belting out all those memorable tunes. Perry took to Twitter late Monday to say that Aerosmith is “not splitting up” but “looking for a new singer to work with.”

So there you go Aerosmith fans – welcome to your very own version of David Lee Roth vs. Sammy Hagar, a debate that has been part of Van Halen’s legacy since the mid-’80s. Looks like Aerosmith fans need to prepare for someone else singing “Dream On,” “Draw the Line” and the rest of the bluesy-rock hits Aerosmith is famous for.

And so the search begins for the next lead singer of Aerosmith.

Let the parlor games begin. Ramp up the rumors. Begin the wild speculation.

Across the web, conversation about possible replacements have already begun; one name that pops ups a lot is Stone Temple Pilots’ Scott Weiland, certainly not lacking for that Tyler-esque swagger and fits the hard-livin’/hard-rockin’ model Aerosmith built its reputation on.

Perry and the guys could go the Journey route and find a total unknown, in their case Arnel Pineda, who has done as well as can be expected having to fill the gigantic shows of former Journey vocalist Steve Perry.

Axl Rose and Kid Rock are also names that have come up for discussion.

It’s absolutely nice work if you can get it.

It’s not a perfect science when having to replace a frontman who is forever associated with a particular band. INXS moved on after the sad passing of lead singer Michael Hutchence, but no doubt they haven’t been back to the heights (at least in the US market) they achieved with the original version of the group. But they keep going, and that’s awesome, because INXS should keep playing.

It’s a touchy subject because some fans just might not be able to accept Aerosmith without Tyler out front. Their first album debuted in ‘72, so we’re talking about a lot of fans who have seen Tyler and Aerosmith go up and down and up again, all the while producing some truly amazing rock n’ roll.

If Perry wants to keep the band going then fans will just have to wait and see how it plays out. Whoever it is, they probably won’t be able to sing “Rats in the Cellar” quite as perfect as Tyler, but that doesn’t mean Aerosmith won’t be just as terrific – just different.

And Lord knows Aerosmith could stand to get more youthful. Tyler is 61! And speaking of Tyler post-Aerosmith, I think he should call Noel Gallagher right away.

Who do you think should be the next lead singer of Aerosmith?

More info;

Aerosmith singer Steven Tyler has ended speculation that he is leaving the band by joining guitarist Joe Perry on stage in New York's Irving Plaza.

"I just want New York to know, I am not leaving Aerosmith," Tyler declared, before launching into the group's signature hit, Walk This Way.

The surprise reunion came during a gig by Perry's solo project.

Last week, the guitarist said he had not spoken to Tyler for months and the group were looking for a new frontman.

Speaking to the Las Vegas Sun newspaper, he said: "Steven quit as far as I can tell," apparently gleaning the information from a magazine interview in which Tyler said he wanted to pursue his own solo career.

Perry went into more detail on the pair's estrangement on the micro-blogging site Twitter over the weekend.

"Last time I phoned him he hung up on me," he wrote.

"In the meantime Aerosmith is positivly [sic] looking for a new singer to work with," he added.

"You just can't take 40 years of experience and throw it in the bin!"

The guitarist also revealed that, for several months, Tyler had travelled separately to the rest of the band, kept a private dressing room, and would only see them on stage.

A video of the pair's New York reunion gave little clue as to whether they had patched up their relationship.

Before they launched into Walk This Way, Tyler appeared to make a dig at his bandmate of 40 years.

"You are a man of many colours," he pronounced. "But I am the rainbow!"

Perry: Steven Tyler taking time off from Aerosmith

NEW YORK – Aerosmith's guitarist Joe Perry says the future of the band is still uncertain.

Perry said Wednesday that he thinks front man Steven Tyler wants to take some time off from the band — even though the two appeared together on a New York stage.

"As it stands, Steven wants to take a couple years off and do some of whatever he wants to do and the rest of the band wants to keep working," Perry said in a telephone interview.

"The band is a really well-oiled machine and we're going to work one way or another and I don't know what form that's going to take," he added.

Tyler's publicist, Kim Estlund, said the 61-year-old rock star was not going to issue a statement on Perry's recent comments.

The status of the band — which also includes Joey Kramer, Brad Whitford and Tom Hamilton — has been the topic of rumors since Tyler was quoted as saying he was considering a solo career. Perry tweeted late Monday that Aerosmith was "not splitting up" but "looking for a new singer to work with."

The rumors of a potential break-up seemed to be quashed Tuesday night when Tyler joined Perry and his band for their encore at a concert in New York City. According to Rolling Stone and Billboard magazines, Tyler told the crowd: "I am not leaving Aerosmith" and then he and Perry performed "Walk This Way."

But in his interview, Perry said he was stunned to hear that Tyler was outside his dressing room as he rested before the encore. He said he hadn't been in recent contact with Tyler.

"He was the last person I expected to see," Perry said. "You never know with him. Every time I figure I've got him sussed, he always does just the opposite."

Of Tyler, Perry added: "I think over the last few years he's just kind of drifted away from the band's goals and plans, and really without communicating that stuff to the guys."

Joe Perry Project still a work in progress at House of Blues
posted by JimAbbott on Dec 3, 2009 12:56:07 AM
Thanks to Fabbest

Memo to Joe Perry: Don’t lose Steven Tyler’s number.

At the same time of his latest solo album and tour with the Joe Perry Project, the guitarist also has been in the news as part of the media squabble involving lead singer Tyler’s Aerosmith departure.

Tyler apparently hasn’t been taking calls from Perry, who has floated the idea of moving forward with another singer. Even Stephen Colbert has expressed interest in the job.

Dude, keep trying that number.

On Wednesday, for a pathetically meager crowd of maybe 300 diehards at House of Blues, the Joe Perry Project showed that a quality guitar slinger sometimes isn’t enough. It takes a singer with charisma and, even better, a band that has bonded together over the years into something more than a collection of musicians -- into a collective personality.

Without those intangibles, the two-plus hours of music were spirited and certainly generous, but missing sparks outside of a few flashes of inspiration.

Most of the high points were courtesy of Perry’s guitar work, which boasts a lean, bluesy edge – especially the greasy slide work incorporated into the opening "Let the Music Do the Talking" and an incendiary Delta blues take on Woody Guthrie’s "Vigilante Man."

The latter was one of several songs that featured Perry’s voice, a colorless rasp that inspires renewed appreciation for the expressiveness of Keith Richards. Most of the singing was handled by the band’s lead singer, Hagen, a German vocalist that Perry’s wife discovered on YouTube.

Although capable of hitting the insane high notes in "Dream On," he’s no Stephen Tyler. And, when it comes to YouTube discoveries, he’s not even close to the same league as the incredible Arnel Pineda, :D :D Journey’s latest Steve Perry.

And, yeah, I know that this is a solo project, not an Aerosmith tribute band. Still, I couldn’t get the prospect of a Tyler-less Aerosmith out of my mind, especially during the obligatory "Walk This Way" finale.

Much of the material on Perry’s new solo album, Have Guitar, Will Travel, sounds like killer riffs attached to generic ideas. The night’s best song was an oldie: an extended, hard-chugging "Rockin’ Train," culled from the Project’s 1980 debut, Let the Music Do the Talking.

Unfortunately, this music too often doesn’t have much to say.

Aerosmith Looking To Replace Steven Tyler
Tuesday, January 19, 2010 10:19AM - By Jeffrey Hyatt

There will be someone not named Steven Tyler singing “Walk This Way,” “Dream On” and the rest of the Aerosmith classics when the band gets back together to perform. Temporarily.

The Steven Tyler saga about whether or not the legendary vocalist is, or is not leaving the band has reached somewhat of a turning point with the news that Aerosmith are to begin auditioning singers to temporarily replace Tyler, who checked into rehab in late December.

Guitarist Joe Perry told the Toronto Sun that Tyler entered rehab to overcome his addiction to painkillers and wants to rejoin the band.

“We’re already getting the word out there. The word’s been out there for a while. After my Motley Crue tour, we’ll start having some auditions, making some phone calls. Hopefully, we’ll have found a new singer by the summer, and Aerosmith will be able to go back out on the road” Perry told torontosun.com.
Tyler reportedly quit the group last year and since then hasn’t made it clear to his band mates whether he is going rejoin the band. Perry said Tyler is scheduled to undergo a number of surgeries and won’t be able to perform for a year, and the band wants to continue performing, with a temporary singer.

He said auditions will begin Feb. 10.

Perry added:

“From what I’ve heard, he hasn’t left the band. As far as I’m concerned, he hasn’t left the band. He’s never said he was going to leave the band. It’s just that he wanted to go off and do some of his own things. He just never told anybody in the band about it. And so far, he hasn’t talked to anybody in the band. But his manager has told our manager that he wants to take some time off. And then lately he’s been saying he wants to come back.

So it’s kind of hard to get a straight answer about what’s going on.” No kidding.

There are two big questions that follow this news: a) just who is going to ‘temporarily’ replace Tyler and b) does anyone care to see Aerosmith without Tyler?

Okay, let’s add a third: c) what if the temporary singer works out nicely, then Tyler decides he’s ready to return, but now there’s big drama because Perry thinks Tyler should just move on.

Or something like that.

But first things first. Who is the temp rock singer going to be? A big name, or a nobody the band scoops up and turns into a star?

Is Arnel Pineda available to sing Aerosmith songs when he’s not touring with Journey?

Perry said he has a short list of singers, but would not name names.

For what it’s worth it seems as if Perry wants to hold onto to the old, rock n’ roll magic he has built over the years with Tyler for as long as possible.

“I’m ready to write with him, to play on stage with him anytime he’s physically ready and wants to do it. But it’s really up to him. His doctor says he’s gotta have surgery on his legs and his feet and he’s gonna be out of the picture for a year.

In that time, he should be able to come around. And the last things he said to the press were that he wanted to work with the band and sing with the band, so we’ll see.”
The whole thing remains very uncertain, which make this quite a compelling story to follow. Will Steven Tyler ever re-join Aersomith? Will the temporary singer win over die-hard fans? Tune in next week!

Who would you like to see temporarily replace Steven Tyler in Aerosmith?

Aerosmith isn't about singing. Being that frontman is about attitude.
No way they'd take some sawed-off sappy oversees dude.
They need someone maybe more like Sebastian Bach.
