Clausen sucker punched by an irate fan

http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=4684326

Now, you may not like ND, you may not like Clausen, but this is downright despicable. The guy's an amateur athlete. I am as die-hard as they come for my teams, but I'd never think of assaulting one of my team's players (not even a Browns player!) for the team's problems. It's scary too... what if this asshole had a knife or gun? It's gonna happen eventually.

That was one of the most despicable acts in sports history. Even as a little kid, I remember watching that and just being astounded. Monica could have been the greatest ever. That dickhead really ruined fucked her up in a lot of ways if you read the book she came out with recently

I really think he's gonna be something. The interceptions are alarming, but not that unusual for a rookie QB. Don't be shocked to see this guy become a great player in due time

Interceptions should always be a concern. The number one cardinal rule for a QB is to not turn the ball over. Almost always, if you look at the QB leading the NFL in picks, their teams usually don't have a winning record. Peyton Manning threw 28 interceptions his rookie season, which is RIDICULOUS and turned into one of the all-time greats. Just for perspective, Brady has never thrown even 15 interceptions in a season and Montana only threw 15 once (16 to be exact). It's a stat that matters and matters A LOT.

He will never win the Heisman though - sports are a very racist environment and he's a white running back.

Back from Gainesville and really loved the blowout win over the Noles. I think we are the final nail in Bowdens coffin!!!!! Tebow is really something special. The dude was crying during senior introductions....I cried with him. The SEC championship next saturday will be one for the ages-#1 vs #2-this game will actually be better than the National Championship-hell, this is the National Championship!!

Bobby Bowdens comment after the game:

"It comes down to recruiting and coaching," Bowden said of the Gators' dominance in the series. He's (Meyer) as good a coach as there is in the country." quoted from http://www.gatorsports.com/article/2009 ... /911289910

Dunlap to miss SEC championship game

http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=4702788

Florida Gators starting defensive end Carlos Dunlap was arrested and charged with driving under the influence early Tuesday morning in Gainesville.

Florida coach Urban Meyer announced after practice Tuesday evening that Dunlap has been suspended indefinitely from the team and will not play for the No. 1 Gators against No. 2 Alabama for the SEC Championship on Saturday in Atlanta's Georgia Dome.

Meyer says he is "stunned" by Dunlap's actions.

"Carlos obviously made a very poor decision," Meyer said. "I have not spoke to him or his family yet. He's not going to play. But I want to visit with him and his family first and go from there."

Meyer acknowledged that the situation was a distraction as his team prepares for a matchup that has national championship implications. But he also said his players might be able to overcome it, much like they did flulike symptoms and linebacker Brandon Spikes' suspension for dirty play.

"We've had distraction after distraction," Meyer said. "This is a rather serious one, obviously, so it is a distraction. Sometimes this team's found ways to get a little tighter in distractions. We've had a few of them this year."

Dunlap, a junior from North Charleston, S.C., was arrested at 3:25 a.m. near campus and was booked into the jail at 5:52 a.m., Gainesville Police Department spokesman Lt. Keith Kameg said.

He was released on his own recognizance about six hours later during his initial appearance at the Alachua County Jail. Judge Mary Day Coker admonished Dunlap for underage drinking, and said he cannot possess alcohol, illegal drugs or prescription drugs that are not prescribed for him.

He was told not to drive a motor vehicle without a license, and if caught driving without a license, he would violate the terms of his release. The judge released Dunlap without bond because he has no prior adjudications and no failures to appear in court.

Wearing a jail-issued, green-and-white striped jumpsuit, Dunlap spoke softly when asked questions and always replied "Yes, ma'am," to the judge.

"We are aware of the incident and are currently gathering more information," Florida athletics spokesman Steve McClain said Tuesday morning.

Kameg said officers responded to a reckless driving complaint and found Dunlap's 2000 Chrysler stopped at a traffic light near the 200 block of W. 34th Street.

Kameg said officers found Dunlap's car stopped at a green light.

"They approached the car and found the suspect slumped over in the driver's seat," Kameg said. "He appeared to be asleep. The car's windows were cracked so they attempted to wake him up. They talked to him and he would only open his eyes for a few seconds and then fall back asleep."

Kameg said officers were able to unlock the car and turn off the ignition. Kameg said officers reported that Dunlap "had trouble listening to instructions." He was given a field sobriety test and performed "poorly," according to Kameg. He refused to take a Breathalyzer at the scene, Kameg said.

Dunlap, a 6-foot-6, 290-pound defensive end who is considered a potential first-round draft choice if he leaves Florida after this season, has 35 tackles, including 8½ tackles for loss, and is tied for the team lead with seven sacks. He was named MVP of the 2009 FedEx BCS National Championship Game, in which the Gators defeated Oklahoma 24-14 to win their second BCS title in three seasons.

yeah, I knew about this yesterday but refused to speak of it. The bad deal is Carlos is a good kid whos never been in trouble. According to his dad, who owns a bail bonds office in South Carolina he has never drank or did drugs in his life. After a long season and the most important game coming up he did such a bonehead move.
Kudos to Urban for handling this promptly. There is no room on the team for someone who puts lives in danger with these type of actions. Yeah, we've all drove a bit wasted before, especially in college but not when your in the state of comatose.
But before anyone worrys too much Florida is loaded on defense which means we'll be fine...
What concerns me even more is it looks like defensive coordinator Charlie Strong will be named the new head coach at Louisville, possibly as early as today.

Didn't see this until now, but of course INTs are a concerning stat. But Stafford shows potential. Will he be the next Peyton, the next Cutler, or something in between? Time will tell. For now, I think this kid has quite a bit of upside if they put some personnel around him.

Having seen a lot of Denver games the last couple of years, has there ever been a guy who self destructs in the redzone as much as Cutler? He's still doing it in Chicago. He can drive the team 80 yards but then he becomes a human turnover machine. The Bears should just run the wildcat when they get in scoring range, they'd probably have more success. The guy just totally falls apart when he needs to go in for the kill.

Well one more day till the "defacto" National Championship game....nerves are starting to run like busted pipe! I could not even sleep last night, kept waking up thinking about this game. I dont know when Ive been as nervous about a game before. Oklahoma nor Ohio State worried me this much. Its bad when you wake up and start thinking about defensive alignments to use to combat Alabama's offense...and what Tebow can do to get around Mount Cody in the middle of Bama's defensive line. Regardless of what Texas, TCU or Cinncinnati thinks Bama and Florida is the National Championship. The BCS Bowl is just a formality because whoever wins the SEC will destroy any of those 3 teams.

Like what? Someone tying him down and pouring Grey Goose down his piehole? Dude...you really have a lot to learn about being a fan. It's okay to call people out if they fuck up, even if they happen to play for the team who means more to you than life. Putting a Florida uniform on doesn't turn these guys into saints. I'm reasonably confident that Florida has just as many douchebags on their team as any other team playing D1 football!

Cant argue with you at all here John, but let me clarify...the optimist in me wanted to believe someone slipped something in his drink that messed him up, maybe some great Bama conspiracy..? As his dad said Carlos is not a drinker. But he will not only miss playing tomorrow but also will not be able to travel with the team to Atlanta. The kid is paying his dues, not lets get off his ass.

The way I see it is...OSU took Florida very "lightly" in that championship game. They figured (incorrectly) that they would "cake walk" their way to the title. They got fat, dumb, and LAZY having just won a unbelievable WAR with Michigan. Troy Smith gained 10 pounds and frankly got a bit too cocky. In retrospect, it was a BIG mistake on OSU's part to not prepare and come ready to play that night. Once Ginn went down on that fluke TD celebration, it was all over. A very BAD night for us Buckeye fans. IF they ever get to play again (realize OSU and Florida have played exactly ONCE)...it will be a different story beleive me. That loss has "haunted" Ohio State and has given them and their reputation a "black eye" beyond what any of us fans could have imagined! However...that night is what it was...no excuses. The "better" team that night one plain and simple.

The LSU debacle was interesting in that Ohio State wasn't even expected to be in the Championship game as it was truly a "rebuilding" year! Somehow, they scraped and clawed (and lucked) their way into that championship game. Anyway, if you go back and look at that game and the stats...it was alot more even than most people seem to want to remember. Sure, LSU's D-line dominated but, the Buckeyes were up by 10 or so early in that game and had a fair amount of success. OSU just made too many STUPID personal foul penalties that sunk their chances that night...really bad plays that gave away any momentum they had. Really dissappointing. But, I contend that they were NOT dominated the way that Florida did the year prior...not even close!

People hate it but, Ohio State is an ELITE team and has been as good as ANYONE over the course of the last 50 years! That's a long run! Watch out next year too...they return alot of players and could be pretty solid.

GO BUCKS beat them DUCKS!!!
