It is the mission of our profession: the use of sport to help young men transition from high school and prepare them for the world that awaits them after college. Coaches walk into a recruit’s home and talk about how they will look out for that young man’s future. When the parents or guardians pass their boy on to college, they put his welfare into that coach’s hands. The expectation is that the coach will help to guide him through a very formative time.”

Still like Lane, though, shady as he comes across.

Notre Dame and Alabama each have 13
USC and Michigan each with 9
Ohio State and Oklahoma each with 7
Minnesota with 6
Miami, Nebraska and Pittsburgh each have 5
If we go back further to the beginning in 1869, here's the top eight:
Princeton - 28
Yale - 27
Notre Dame - 21
Alabama - 18
Southern California - 17
Oklahoma - 16
Michigan - 15
Ohio State - 14

Nittany Lion football student-athletes that enrolled in the University in the fall of 2002 earned a federal graduation rate of 89 percent, easily the best among the teams ranked in the final AP poll.
- Penn State's 89 percent federal graduation rate led all Big Ten Conference institutions and was a superlative 34 points above the 55 percent FBS average, according to the NCAA data released last November.
- Penn State's 85 percent Graduation Success Rate was significantly higher than the 67 percent FBS average and was second to Northwestern among Big Ten Conference institutions, according to the NCAA.
- The past two years, Penn State has led all Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) teams in first team ESPN The Magazine Academic All-Americans®. During the 2009 season, three Nittany Lions repeated their Academic All-America® accolades: senior linebacker Josh Hull (Millheim), senior kick snapper Andrew Pitz (Bettendorf, Iowa) and junior center Stefen Wisniewski (Bridgeville). Hull and Pitz were 2008 first team honorees and Wisniewski was a second team selection.

Where he went to college is of zero relevance. He's been a part of "Gator Nation" for 23 years! This happened as a Gator. You have to take the good with the bad, Tim. You didn't deflect Tebow's accomplishments to whatever high school he went to, so don't try and deflect a 23 year Gator's crimes to his former college. This guy was a Gator and he shamed the nation. Admit it.
ScarabGator wrote:no, he worked for the Gator Radio network. Never was a Gator, just a hired hand. If he wasnt getting paid he couldve been at Penn State, FSU, Boise St, etc.......but because his name is tied to the Gator Nation in any way of course its shame, but to him moreso than us. As soon as UF found out he was released from any connections. Kudos to the Gator Nation for handling this promptly thus making me very proud of my alma mater.

The guy is more of a Gator than Urban Meyer! He's been there for 23 years, announced Gators baseball, women's basketball, several other sports and was the host of The Tailgator pregame show for football. This dude has embodied Florida athletics longer than Tim Tebow has been alive!!!
