it would be interesting to hear, as I obviously missed it at the time. Catley's pretty distinctive if the mixing is right and you know what to listen for.
Here ya go......
To Be With You ~ http://rcpt.yousendit.com/833877548/5ed ... 5cc3f63847 (Jeff beltin' out a "everybody yeah yeah" around the 2 min. mark)

Yes. He and Jeff came up and sang backing vocals for an accoustic To Be With You. I'm not that familiar with Catley so I couldn't pick out his vocals, but Jeff's are quite distinct. I'll post it later if you want to have a listen............
Deep Winter from his 1st solo album...and maybe one of his best vocals.

Not sure if it is his voice just isn't very powerful or if the music is too loud over his vocals. I checked a couple others from this on youtube and sounds like he has a good voice but not a very powerful one, maybe it is just the mix though.

Magnum (in their prime) are utterly sensational and equally essential!

Ahh, yes, thank you. Easy way to pick Catley out (even with the low-volume of the backing mics) is if it isn't Eric Martin and it isn't JSS, it's Catley. He's the one doing the main vox on the backing part of the chorus. I don't really hear any other voices, so I wonder if EM's backing singers left so that JSS and Catley could come in.
Either way, you hear a bit of his very low range at 0:47-0:49, and his normal higher range at 2:50-3:05 (especially 3:02-3:05). One thing about Catley is that he doesn't really sound like anybody else, and doesn't clone voices very well (or he just has his own distinctive vocal style), so it always sounds like "Bob Catley singing song X"--which may be a reason Magnum never played cover songs live.
P.S. Sorry for the delay....had to go see Butch Walker & Train performing live, and thank goodness Train didn't embarrass themselves by having Walker blow them off the stage--which I have seen done before. Cool concert in an old 3-tiered theater.

might be a combination of both, and his voice has gotten thinner over the years (ie he's older than Perry).
here's one that's probably about as powerful as his voice gets...It's not the piercing voice like some have.

Was just a 4 piece band, both Mark's on bass and guitar and his wife Denise on drums. And since this song was accoustic, I'm pretty sure it is only Catley and Soto on backing vocals. I always assumed that is Soto coming in at 3:02?Sounds like the same identical vocal tone as at the 2:00 mark, and that I know is JSS.

3:02 is definitely Catley. Oddly enough, both he and JSS have a VERY similar tone at that range.
I'm not even sure I really hear JSS on there--even at the 2:00 ad lib. JSS usually stands out, so I'm somewhat confused because I wouldn't know he was there if Eric hadn't announced him. Catley's all over the place--so I wonder how high JSS's mic was in the mix. Do you actually hear JSS's vocals in the mix anywhere clearly???

I'm not certain on the 3:02, but I would lay money on that ad lib being Jeff, especially the "yeah yeah" part, pretty certain that's JSS.

HIGHLY unlikely....but maybe just as qualified
Like I said, the weird thing is I don't even hear JSS anywhere on that recording. The tone between the two of them is remarkably similar, but the phrasing is completely different, which helps is certain situations. JSS is much more of a chameleon than Catley is, so Bob stands out a lot.

I was sent a clip of this most beautiful song! Wow! The person who is singing is spectacular, sounds like an Irish singer with an operatic background. Forgive me that I have no idea who Magnum is, but whomever they are or were, the next time I sing Karaoke that will be the song for me, if they have it. Thanks for sharing the clip.
Okay, back to work on my mom's manuscript. Enjoy!MBPL
