Ahh, yes, thank you. Easy way to pick Catley out (even with the low-volume of the backing mics) is if it isn't Eric Martin and it isn't JSS, it's Catley. He's the one doing the main vox on the backing part of the chorus. I don't really hear any other voices, so I wonder if EM's backing singers left so that JSS and Catley could come in.

Either way, you hear a bit of his very low range at 0:47-0:49, and his normal higher range at 2:50-3:05 (especially 3:02-3:05). One thing about Catley is that he doesn't really sound like anybody else, and doesn't clone voices very well (or he just has his own distinctive vocal style), so it always sounds like "Bob Catley singing song X"--which may be a reason Magnum never played cover songs live.


P.S. Sorry for the delay....had to go see Butch Walker & Train performing live, and thank goodness Train didn't embarrass themselves by having Walker blow them off the stage--which I have seen done before. Cool concert in an old 3-tiered theater.

Not sure if it is his voice just isn't very powerful or if the music is too loud over his vocals. I checked a couple others from this on youtube and sounds like he has a good voice but not a very powerful one, maybe it is just the mix though.

might be a combination of both, and his voice has gotten thinner over the years (ie he's older than Perry).

3:02, I will lay money on. That vocal tone is unmistakable. It's Bob Catley. No question whatsoever.
On the 2:00 mark, the more I listen to it, the more I think it's Catley also. The fact that JSS is inaudible through the rest of the recording tends to add to this.

not sure what song you are referring to. Although several songs were posted, the main song in debate is a Mr. Big song (#1 hit in the US if I'm not mistaken) that singer Eric Martin did at a solo gig.

Magnum (ie Bob Catley's day job) is a British rock band. Been going since the mid 1970s, minus a 7 year break in the late 90s. Another one of many who never broke into the US.
