Arnel is adorable.

I also caught this repeat today - didn't really get a good look/sound of Arnel before today. He seems like a humble, nice guy and has a good voice (sure beats Augeri on Generations) but still it will always be the Perry-era Journey that I love. I think Arnel looks kinda out-of-place with the rest of the band until he starts rockin it out.

Nah, the rest of the band is out of place. Arnel is the star, the rest of 'em old rockers of a few decades ago. (Isn't that what the general Pinoys who attended the Manila concert thought?) LOL

Well yeah some will look at it that way  The Pinoys? Haven't heard that one yet

Constantly trying to find a way to illegitimize an album that's moved 1.1 million units. Keep trying, ladies, because you can piss on the bon fire all you want but it's not going to make a difference.

Nice Dan. You certainly can run it, and I respect that. That post ought to earn you a phone call from Philadelphia tomorrow morning and a long distance high five from the only male cheerleader here. I would include a smiley face, but unfortunately it's true and I hate the motherfucker with a passion, so no, no smiley face. Sorry about that. I love you FD, but that's where I draw the line.

Steve,

Dan and I disagree on 90% of everything Journey, but I respect that guy big time. He is a man of his word and if it came time to stand up and admit something or concede a point, on an important face saving matter, even if it went against his beloved band, Dan would be a man and do that.

Also I wouldn't care if Dan were gay or not, or anyone is gay or not. I thought I made that clear last week regarding Jason. Dan and I disagree about that too, but who gives a shit, it's not like we are the nominees for president and are debating on the national scene or anything.....yet.

Creatively bankrupt?

Let's see, of the songs on disc one, which has sold a mil, the credits look like this:

1"Never Walk Away" N. Schon, J. Cain and J. Hunsicker 4:19
2. "Like a Sunshower" N. Schon, J. Cain 4:29
3. "Change For the Better" N. Schon, J. Cain 5:52
4. "Wildest Dream" N. Schon, J. Cain 5:02
5. "Faith in the Heartland" (From Generations, 2005) N. Schon, J. Cain, S. Augeri 6:18
6. "After All These Years" J. Cain 4:10
7. "Where Did I Lose Your Love" J. Cain, N. Schon 5:02
8. "What I Needed" N. Schon, J. Cain 5:28
9. "What It Takes To Win" J. Cain, N. Schon 5:23
10. "Turn Down the World Tonight" J. Cain 4:56
11. "The Journey (Revelation)" (instrumental) N. Schon 5:25

Looks like made a new album to me.

This 'album' wouldn't have sold half as much without the reheated Greatest Hits tied to it, or the big media push about finding their singer on Youtube. That's where the interest was, not in the new material. Otherwise, Arrival and Generations would have done much better than they did.

Not for me George, Its a very good album which I play at least twice a week. And, what were they supposed to do, ignore a perfectly good marketing opportunity? That would make them the idiots some of you make them out to be.

I know. So what if there was a marketing ploy to it. That's what many older bands need nowadays. It's a miracle that this album did so good, looking at the last two albums with Journey faring poorly or no label at all, and people here are punishing them for it. And maybe people on here don't like the album, but a lot of people in the million that bought it liked it, including me. tdtwt should have charted.

I understand where you and Since 78 are coming from. You're absolutely right, the older bands do need as much marketing as possible to push product. And my gripe isn't with the new material. Like I've said, I have never heard any of the new stuff, so I can't or won't critique it or anyone who enjoys it. God bless you for finding enjoyment in the music! And my only exposure to Arnel is what's onYoutube. Good singer, absolutely. Just not what I'm interested in listening to at this point. What sours me is the oversaturation of the old stuff to help market the new stuff. To me, it's as if the band's name has changed to Journey - You know, the guys who sang this, this and this...".

In malls and stuff, I've heard several of the Revelation tracks. Not one of them was a re-record. I've heard "After All these Years" (also heard that one on the radio [GASP!], "Turn Down the World Tonight", "Never Walk Away", and "Where Did I Lose Your Love".

Haven't heard a single re-record in any public place. That tells me that the album was being pushed on the merits of new material rather than old.

Before peeps roll their eyes and go "wow, you heard them in stores... oooh!" I'll remind you that THAT was the strategy that HH used to promote early Perry Journey material and it worked well for them.

Man, we just gotta find something to gripe about because it's not Perry's Journey. Ridiculous. At least this band wants to work. Yeah, here we go, same old arguments....
NO. He's NOT Steve F'ing Perry. But he's Arnel F'ing Pineda and I'm okay with that.
