I think everyone with any knowledge of the situation and a partially functioning brain realizes that the stone was cracked when Steve Perry toured singing Journey songs without ... Journey. Firing a guy that quit touring on you 11 years prior is really just semantics.

I think it's actually Stoned Soul Picnic by the 5th Dimension or Laura Nyro I get the stoned part but I'm not to sure what a soul picnic is.

Come one, come on and surry down to a stoned soul picnic.
Surry down to a stoned soul picnic. There'll be lots of time and wine.
Red yellow honey, sassafras and moonshine,
red yellow honey, Sassafras and moonshine, moonshine. Stoned soul, stoned soul.
Come on, come on and surry down to a stoned soul picnic. Surry down to a stoned soul picnic.
Rain and sun come in akin, and from the sky come the Lord and the lightning.
And from the sky come the Lord and the lightning.
Stoned soul, stoned soul, surry on, soul.
Surry, surry, surry, surry.
There'll be trains of blossoms (there'll be trains of blossoms).
There'll be trains of music (there'll be music).
There'll be trains of trust, trains of golden dust.
Come along and surry on sweet trains of thought, surry on down.
Can you surry, can you surry?

Let's go with 'celebrate'.
JSS wrote:Many know Perry was hugely influenced by black & soul music growing up, primarily Sam Cooke & Motown stuff...he also 'borrowed' a lot from that era both vocally & lyrically (give yourself a great mind blow by 1st listening to a few bars of Lovin', Touchin', Squeezin' then a few bars of Sam Cooke's 'Nothing Can Change This Love'...the same shuffle beat, same key, same melodies & even some of the same lyrics!) so I imagine him loving The Stylistics who too had a big hit called 'Stone In Love'.
Some influences carry over greatly when it's THAT embedded into your soul...Perry paid homage to all that amazing soul music masked as a 'rock' singer & thank God for that influence he gave to future generations.

Stone in love basically means "completely in love". It's an adjective used for emphasis. "Stone" is not really a term that's used much anymore... the old Stylistics song "I'm Stone In Love" was mentioned... both songs express the same idea. Being so totally fully absolutely 100% in love with someone...
If you've ever heard someone say something like "I was stone cold busted coming home late..." or something in that context... same thing. "Absolutely" "totally" "fully" "completely" "no getting around it"...
Has nothing to do with being unbreakable, or whatever. And no it has nothing to do with cracking the stone ya buncha smartalecs.![]()

My theory was an obvious joke ...isn't it fun to watch SJ jump in to defend the band, though!!![]()
