yeah, but the Sens played tough, so there was a lot of excitement! Penguins have pulled it together quite well since that first game.

Hasek leads hometown Czech team to championship at 45
April 22, 2010
CBSSports.com wire reports

PRAGUE -- The 45-year-old Dominik Hasek has proved again why he is one of the best goaltenders in hockey history by leading his hometown club HC Pardubice to the Czech league title on Thursday.

Pardubice beat HC Vitkovice Steel 3-2 in overtime in Ostrava to sweep the finals 4-0.

"This is something extraordinary," Hasek said. "A fantastic feeling. I'm absolutely delighted."

Hasek credited his teammates and club officials: "This is a job done by many people."

His teammates chanted "Hasan, Hasan," Hasek's nickname, in the locker room afterwards.

Hasek came out of retirement last year to play for his former club in the Czech league in the town where he was born and started his career.

He retired from ice hockey after he won the Stanley Cup with the Detroit Red Wings for the second time in 2008.

Retirement, albeit another brief one, didn't diminish his skills in goal.

Hasek had three shutouts in the playoffs, one in the finals, while Pardubice lost just one game in the playoffs before claiming 12 consecutive wins.

Before joining the NHL, Hasek helped Pardubice win the Czech title in 1987 and '89.

Known as "Dominator" in the NHL, he was twice named the league's most valuable player, and took home the Vezina Trophy six times as the league's top goalie.

Hasek previously retired in 2002 after winning his first Stanley Cup with Detroit but rejoined the NHL in the 2003-04 season.

He also led the Czech Republic to a gold medal at 1998 Nagano Olympics.

"He is still as good as in the old days in Nagano," Vitkovice coach Alois Hadamczik said. "If I didn't know how old he is, I would guess he's 30."

Pardubice has an option to extend the contract by one more year. Hasek has yet to say if he wants to continue.

Meanwhile, his brilliant playoff performances could make Czech coach Vladimir Ruzicka pick him for the next month's world championship in Germany. Hasek was unlikely to say no because he's never won the world title.

Pens lose 4-3 in the 3rd overtime period. There was our slip up. Kind of had it coming since we annihilated the Sens 2 straight games. I expect to take it in 6, if not, game on.

New rule change that needs to be implemented.

A team cannot pull its goalie if they are on a penalty kill...the purpose of a power play is to have a man advantage...

I thought they put Niemi back in after the penalty? I didn't see where Niemi was.
They always put the goalie back in if there's a penalty. Did Quenneville not do it this time? And if not, what is he smoking?
