Thanks for bringing it up or a least opening the door. Andrew, we don't need specifics or any other private financial/business success of this event, but did this weekend allow for Melodic Rock to stay in business for awhile longer? A lot longer?

Well we've been able to post since last weekend, i think that's a good sign 8)

I wholeheartedly retract that beef. Looking back, I loved the ability to go right up to the front of the stage for a given act (Well, almost any given act.). Imagine having assigned seating and never getting to go right up front. 20 or so people get front row seats and you never have the ability to catch an act from a few feet away. No thanks. This was the perfect way to do it and the perfect venue. Perhaps a few more tables in the back, but fuck assigned seating up front. "Sack up" in the front or sit down in the back. I saw more than a few women that were out on that floor for virtually every band. Time to have your ovaries removed, Tito.

I loved the Venue and the atmosphere was fantastic ... I personally preferred the balcony, but it could've used more seats too!! ...

I think you're on to something here. I was thinking about a 2 hour break mid-day. Give people a chance to really sit down and get some dinner, rest for a bit and/or grab a quick nap (Behshad  ) without missing any acts. Perhaps Saturday could be Noon-6, then a 2 hour break and then 8-1. Same thing on Sunday ... provided you do it over Memorial Day or Labor Day.

Similar to "ball up" or "grow a pair." These fucking people (myself include, pre-show) have it wrong, Deb. It's so awesome to be able to get that sort of access. It makes the experience unique for the diehard fans of the lesser known bands, especially. People start hitting the tables and chairs, fading toward the back or even leaving to piss, grab a beer, eat, etc. and you get to go right smack up front and jam. I hope Andrew never changes that. Just add a few more seats and tables in the back and throw in a 2 hour intermission mid-day for everyone to re-charge their batteries.

I actually have a suggestion, for those of us that are unable to attend andrew should broadcast it on the net so the rest of us can watch. For a small fee of course.

Actually, that's not a bad idea for extra revenue - but not the headliners.
If you want that, you should definitely have to get your ass to the show.
But a webcast of selected bands... not an all around bad idea.

Oh the other thing I loved about that venue was the sound was great! Not so loud you feel like your ears are ringing after, and no matter where you were in the venue and no matter who was playing, the sound was really good. I loved the venue.

Absolutely! Nothing quite like enjoying the experience of rockin' out with your favorite vocalists/bands from front and center. The way I figure it, is, I'm not flying all the way from Canada to sit and enjoy the show from the back of the room.....I'm there for the whole live experience. I don't care how tired I am or if my feet hurt........can always sleep on the plane ride home. LOL, I plan on being right smack up front for EM's show in July. :D

Just wonder if Loverboy would/could of brought in an additional 300-400 people on either Saturday or Sunday? I certainly understand the risk though, Andrew.

Maybe Rik Emmett, especially if he does not have any shows in Chicago for a little while and the demand is built back up.

The recession certainly did not help you.

This isn't going to come out the way I want, but....

These bands are lucky people even remember who they are...lucky that they get to play in front of people at all. In Loverboy's case, this ain't 1984 anymore. Expecting 1984 money in 2010 is ludicrous. Now I love Loverboy, the last album was superb.....but if Winger could play, Reno could have bit the bullet and signed.

I understand what you are saying...but I do know for a fact that Loverboy does not play for 1984 money any more and do not ask for anything close to that amount. I just thought they had enough of a "name" in the business to help generate higher attendance. I agree...I certainly wished Andrew was able to draw the 1,000 people he hoped for on both days. Nothing against any of the bands who performed earlier in the day (especially since I have heard and read such positive feedback on most if not all), but I am not sure they were each pulling in enough fan support to cover their overall expenses including a percentage of the production and advertising costs.
