I'm anxious to see if Russell can excel in a good system that helps out a Quarterback if he is committed to work at his ethic and get in better shape. He def has tools to work with and a good coach can transform him.

Here you go Travis. Sounds like a solid backup plan for the Steelers QB position!!! :D

When I asked a league source what Russell struggled with the most in Oakland, what part of his game, the answer was devastating: "Everything. Every aspect of the position,'' the source said. "If you had a checklist of everything you want your quarterback to do, he chose not to do it. He chose not to study, not to work out, not to be communicative with teammates, not to exhibit leadership, not to get himself into shape. And he struggled with accuracy, with reading defenses, with audibling. They almost had to run a sub-NFL-level offense with him at quarterback. It was that limiting.

This seriously made me laugh my ass off.

Keep it comin'...

Difference between Russell and Ryan Leaf is that Russell still has a shot to resurrect his career while the book closed on Leaf. Russell at this stage is close to the bust status of Leaf, but THEE Ryan Leaf will FOREVER hold the #1 spot of busts in the entire history of the NFL judging from the hype and the comparisons that class went up against (Manning Vs Leaf.)

I don't think Russell will commit to his career and if anythings a wake up call, this will be it, but it's now up to him to turn it around when the whole worlds against his pathetic work ethic.

Huh? The Steelers got good depth behind Ben. 2 veterans that can manage the game respectively, and a young QB that showed a glimpse of greatness givin the talent and ability of Dennis Dixon. Steelers have solid names while the rest of the league can't even pronounce their 2nd string QB's name correctly while they don't even know their 3rd QB on the roster, if they have one, even exists.

Uhoh, looks like an unidentified Green Bay Packers player has a dick too....

MILWAUKEE (AP) -- Teammates staying in a condo with an unidentified Packers player who faces sexual assault allegations say Sunday they're frustrated that their names are linked to the incident.

The NFL is watching the case after Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger wound up suspended over a similar claim this offseason.

Authorities in Lake Delton said Sunday no additional information would be released involving the claims of two women against a player staying at a resort condo early Saturday morning. Six other players are cleared of criminal activity.

Authorities, the Packers and Packers teammates declined to name the player involved. Police Chief Tom Dorner said he'd turn over results of the investigation to the district attorney Monday or Tuesday to consider charges.

The agent of the player reported to be the center of the probe did not return epeated calls and messages left by the AP. Dorner said that there wasn't enough evidence or probable cause to make an arrest, but police took an unusual step of releasing the names of six other players who were cleared.

"I am upset that we didn't do anything and our names get thrown out there," backup quarterback Matt Flynn told reporters in Appleton on Sunday. "We went and answered as many questions as possible and tried to get it rectified as quickly as possible. There is nothing that I or we did that I am embarrassed about."

The other players cleared were linebackers Clay Matthews and Brad Jones, fullback Korey Hall, guard Josh Sitton and safety Khalil Jones. Several of those players participated in a celebrity softball game on Sunday, two days after Matthews hosted a charity golf event in Wisconsin Dells on Friday before being questioned early Saturday morning by police.

"There was one incident that kind of put a black eye on the whole thing. We are all trying to move forward and put it behind us," Matthews said. "All we were doing is being asked to talk about a specific incident and that's what we did. It's unfortunate and it aggravated us a bit, but you just have to put it behind you and move forward."

The Packers issued a one-sentence statement on Saturday saying that they are continuing to gather facts. Spokesman Jeff Blumb declined further comment Sunday.

"There is an active law enforcement investigation and we are monitoring developments," NFL spokesman Greg Aiello said in an e-mail on Sunday. "As with any such incident, it will be reviewed under the league's Personal Conduct Policy."

That policy doesn't require charges to be filed for a suspension.

No charges were filed in Roethlisberger's case and he was suspended in April by the NFL for six games this season stemming from allegations by a college student.

A former Packers player who has faced sexual assault allegations chimed in on Sunday.

Tight end Mark Chmura spoke about the latest alleged incident on his weekly sports talk radio show in Milwaukee. He was acquitted in 2001 of assaulting a 17-year-old girl at a friend's home.

"We have to hold judgment from both sides of the fence right now until we get all the information," Chmura said. "I don't think this is going to drag on very long."

About 15 Packers players participated in Matthews' event in Wisconsin Dells and most went out that night together in the area that's known as a weekend getaway spot with its theme bars and waterparks. Seven of the players decided to stay at a large condo that night in nearby Lake Delton.

At about 4:20 a.m. on Saturday morning, police received a report that two Milwaukee women, ages 31 and 33, who'd met the players hours earlier at a bar had been sexually assaulted by more than one man.

Police said they arrived to find the players still at the condo and that all of them had been drinking alcohol. The women and the one player were in a room together, but authorities said it's not clear whether all three had been drinking.

Police cleared the six players and spoke with the two women further.

They then interviewed the seventh player a second time before releasing him. Authorities have said it's not clear why the initial report claimed more than one man was involved.

None of that may matter to the NFL.

"You never want to be portrayed poorly," Matthews said. "It is an unfortunate incident and kind of stresses as to who you are with and what you have and the type of scenarios that you can get yourself into. It really is a reality check. Unfortunately, that one individual has to deal with it and we'll see what happens."

DALLAS -- Tennessee Titans quarterback Vince Young was issued a Class C assault citation after an incident at a Dallas-area strip club early Sunday morning.

According to security video of the incident, Young exchanged words with an unidentified man in the manager's office of Club Onyx after the man made a sign referencing the University of Texas, Young's alma mater. Young then left the office, only to return and throw a punch at the man, leading to a short scuffle.

Dallas police Lt. Andy Harvey said Young was not at the club when police responded to a call of a physical confrontation.

Young's citation is punishable by a fine up to $500.

"The organization has been in touch with Vince and we will continue to gather additional information," Titans director of media relations and services Robbie Bohren said.

Young returned to form this season after two troubled years in which the former 2006 first-round pick dealt with injuries and inconsistency on the field before being replaced by veteran Kerry Collins.

In Sept. 2008, Nashville, Tenn. police were asked to search for Young after family members called the Titans informing them of their concern about his state of mind.

Young was later located at a friend's house.

The concern over Young's well-being came after he was booed in a victory over Jacksonville and left the game with a left knee injury.

"What would you think, if you were tired of being ridiculed and persecuted and talked about and not being treated very well, what would you do? What kind of decision would you make?'' Young's mother Felecia Young told The Nashville Tennesssean in September 2008. "He may not want to deal with it [all], but you have to get to that point before you make that decision first."

Young is expected to attend the Titans three-day mandatory minicamp, which starts on Monday. The former rookie of the year threw 10 touchdowns in 10 games and nearly led the Titans to the playoffs last season after taking over for Collins in Week 8.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Chris Johnson's agent says the running back and the Tennessee Titans have agreed on a revised deal that will ensure he reports with the rest of the team for training camp.

Agent Joel Segal confirmed the deal Monday to The Associated Press.

Segal would not say how much of a raise Johnson is getting, but did say the running back will get a pay increase. Johnson will reportedly earn $2.5 million this season under the revised deal.

Both sides are reviewing the contract, which could be signed within the next 48 hours. Some of his maximum $2.5 million escalator will be moved forward, and no new years will be added to the deal, a source told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.

"We're still talking through some issues," a source familiar with the process said Monday. "It's going to get done, but it's not done yet."

It's not the minimum $30 million in guaranteed money the AP 2009 Offensive Player of the Year had been saying he wanted after becoming just the sixth back to run for at least 2,000 yards.

However, he no longer will be the lowest-paid running back on the Titans roster with a base salary of $550,000. The raise will also prevent him from missing training camp when the Titans report on July 30 after sitting out the entire offseason in protest.

Profootballtalk.com first reported the deal.

The Titans declined to confirm the deal Monday, and Johnson did not respond to messages left on his cell phone by the AP. The avid tweeter also had posted only one message Monday, a rare drought for the running back.

Team officials had insisted Johnson was under contract for three more years and that rules limiting pay hikes to 30 percent in the league's labor agreement made it impossible to give Johnson a huge raise. Almost all of the money for a new long-term deal would have been paid up front, which the Titans were not willing to do.

Johnson won the ESPY for breakthrough athlete last week and promised he would be happy even with a small raise for the short-term.

"When they do something, I'll be proud to be there with my teammates," Johnson said on July 14.

Johnson still wants a long-term deal, but for now he can focus on reaching his next goal -- Eric Dickerson's NFL rushing record of 2,105 set in 1984. Johnson came up just short with his 2,006 yards even as the Titans focused on trying to get him to the 2,000-mark in the final games of the 2009 season.

Johnson already ranks behind only Dickerson (3,318) and Edgerrin James (3,262) for the most yards in the first two years of a career with 3,234. Johnson also will be trying to match Barry Sanders' record of 14 consecutive 100-yard rushing games; he finished the 2009 season with 11 in a row.
