The sweet irony of your criticism in light of your Asian fetish is just too much, that's why.

Where what my criticism? I simply stated that I've been there...done that before and in the end, I realized that it wasn't for me. As for "maneuver", the guy did the same manuever as Bowie did. If Lucy Liu had a white husband, then I would say her white husband did the same manuever as I did.

So how long do you think the guitarist for Def Leppard will be married to his new "love of his life"?

Oh yes it does, as this post proves! You've decided that all people (or women if you prefer) of a particular skin colour share personality characteristics based on that one physical characteristic. That's like someone saying that they'll never date a man with blue eyes because they hate football and Scarabgator has blue eyes, or that they'll never date someone over 6 feet tall because they don't agree with St John, or they'll only date people who were born in the South because Rhi is so cool, or that only blondes who married their early love later in life can be good artists.

Being married to an Asian woman doesn't stop you being racist, it just means you aren't neccessarily a hateful one.

Not racist and I never said all women were like the one I had in the early 90's. I'm just looking at it from a probability and impact type of deal...I'm not willing to take the chance to find out which ones are like this and which ones are not like this. It doesn't make me racist just because I do not enjoy romantic relationships with black women anymore.

You've written off relationships with black women in general because you don't want to bother finding out if there's a good one out there, but you're not racially discriminating! Hahaha, keep it coming, this is great.

So, putting aside Sushi's broad "personality trait" proclamations, do you think it's racist to not be physically attracted to people of a certain race? If so, just about every man and woman I know isn't into a certain race as a general rule [e.g., asians, blacks] etc. Find it hard to believe they are all racist.

Just curious.

I have never been attracted to a black man, even with that myth ...about running faster
and jumping higher!! And when they added that other myth ...about rhythm and dancing ...still, no!!
I don't think I'd ever met a real live Asian until I was an adult, living in OK ...much too short
for my taste!! I don't consider myself a racist, but I'll tell you this ... there's some black
folks I DON'T LIKE ...same as you CRACKERS!!! :D

I'm generally not attracted to black women, but I have met a few "real life" black women that have stopped me dead in my tracks.

I also know a couple of really good looking Asian women.

Don't think I know too many Latinas, but they are definitely hot a lot of the time.

Funny how he gets tagged for "racially discriminating" because of a harmless personal preference he's settled on, but it's ok in your book for a man to throttle his cock up another man's fecal factory. Where's the "gender discrimination" when a man (or woman) has a perverse relationship with the same sex, even though it is clearly not what nature intended when it comes to the alignment of reproductive organs? You keep it coming. Your hypocrisy and inconsistency are stunning.

Well Lynn.. I was going to ask you if you remembered her from ILAA but I think you and Mel ended up doing 4* that tour.
She was the hostess for ILAA when Lepp was touring with Poison.

From what I remember, she is a very nice lady, I wish them both the best.

Aaaah ... that's why she looked familiar.

Worst ILAA experiences ever ... no tables or chairs in Houston because she didn't order any. In Denver we were in a pasture with large rocks, which we couldn't even lean on because they were considered "art," also w/ no table or chairs. And the show seats we were given were far back, even though we signed up the minute they went on sale.

That sucks.. :( :(
Ours was a little better coordinated. They had the food under a tent but we sat in the blazzing sun. First come, first serve on a place to sit while eating though. Picture it.. Florida.. August (I think).. first we got rained on .. which turned into mud in the parking lot (fun for walking).. then finally we got HEAT on top of the lovely humidity. One lady had to be taken away for heat exhaustion.

The majority of people in our group complained about their seats. We ended up being the lucky one's and getting the only front row tixs.
Helen claimed that Poison & Cheap Tricks fanclubs took the majority of the resources from ILAA. She tried to make people happy and offered to get the stuff won from raffles autographed. Gotta give her some props for that.

No, I don't think that's racist; most of us have a few physical types that we are more likely to be attracted to on a purely physical level, and other physical types we are less likely to be attracted to; frequently that includes skin colour. I believe there have been studies done that show we are more like to be attracted to facial 'types' that we are familiar with, so we are less likely to be attracted to people from a very different racial background if we haven't spent time with many people of that background. So, if you've grown up in a society with a lot of mixed races, you are more likely to be attracted to people of different racial characteristics than your own, where as if you've grown up in a predominantly 'one race' culture, you're less likely to be attracted to people with significantly different racial characteristics. That doesn't make you a racist, unless you start ascribing personality traits and characteristics to match those physical ones.

I'm frequently attracted to men around 6' with brown hair and blue eyes, or big barrel chested guys, and men with long hair tend to catch my eye more than men with short hair, and I'm generally not attracted to shorter men, or blonde/redheaded men. But that doesn't make me 'heightist' or 'hairist' because I don't assume that there is any correlation between those characteristics and who they are or how they behave or think. Those might be the things that initially prompt me to go talk to someone, or make eye contact, or might be things that make it take a little longer to warm to someone physically, but in the end, I've dated men shorter than me, I've dated redheads and blonds, and what prompts me to go on a second date has very little to do with looks/physical characteristics and everything to do with personality.

Sushi isn't getting shit because he isn't usually physically attracted to black women, or even because he married a woman of Asian background. He's getting shit because he wiped out ever dating another black woman because of personality and behavioural issues he had when dating ONE black woman, and then made that statement after a couple of years of praising Asian women as the perfect mates, describing his wife as Asian/Japanese at every given opportunity, as though that says everything we need to know about her. Don is obviously attracted to Asian women too, but he doesn't talk about them as though being Asian is the only thing they need to be attractive and great to go out with.

I personally couldn't stand to be involved with someone who wants all evidence of my life experiences before meeting them to be expunged from our existance; anyone that insecure, manipulative and controlling would drive me batty. But I'm not going to make the mistake of thinking that because that's what Sushi's wife is like, that all Asian women are like that, or all Asian women who marry white men, or all Japanese women who marry outside their culture, or any other general sweeping statement, any more than I'd assume a white guy who marries an Asian woman is a racist twat looking for a submissive stereoptype.

The fact is, I've met a LOT of white men who are exactly that; they deliberately seek out Asian women because they are looking for a submissive, obedient partner who will ignore their faults, and who will be 'content' to be housewives, and they think that all Asian women are like that. Listening to my Vietnamese friends bitching about white guys hitting on them with that stereotype in mind is pretty eye-opening. But I also know quite a few white men who married Asian women simply because they fell in love, and race had nothing to do with it.

As far as I'm concerned, I already thought Sushi was a racist simply because of the way he describes his wife. She's never just his wife, his gorgeous wife, his sexy wife, his whatever wife; she's ALWAYS described as his ASIAN wife, or possibly his adjective-ASIAN wife. I sometimes wonder if she introduces him as her Caucasian husband.

It's an interesting thing that this thread has brought up though - we associate rascism as being about hate. I wonder if a lot of racist people don't think they are because they don't have antagonistic feelings about people of a different colour.

Shit, I'm turning into YouKnowWho again. At least I know about paragraphs though!

Now that you've put that myth to bed, your next assignment is to find out why white people float better than black people.

Exactly. Every one's entitled to like what they like. Everyone has their favorite flavor, so to speak. I think where Sushi stepped in it was referring to this man's marriage to this woman a "maneuver". Perhaps presuming that because he had a bad experience with a black woman, that ALL black women must be tainted, and therefore surely this cannot be true love. Sushi seems to question the man's motive for marrying this woman. This, of course, begs the question: "How is this marriage different than yours?"

My guess is, the sistah musta went up side his head a couple of times...and I think I'm beginning to see why.

I've written off all that because I'm married now. But if I were still single, I'd still not have a romantic relationship with a black chick, because I'm not into that kind of relationship anymore.

You should get Mythbusters to investigate this for you. Well, it's all really a myth. Take it from me, I've served in the military for a number of years and we'd all shower in the same room. Over the years I was in, I probably had to shower with a few thousand guys and throughout that time there were small ones, medium ones, large ones, and some super sized ones, and they've all been on every race of men regardless. It all just depends, it's basically a crap shoot from the start if the kid will be born with one that's small, meduim, large or super sized. Doesn't depend on race...but think and wish for what you want to believe.

Ok, the 'huge penis' thing was a JOKE based on MG's funny post. When someone types "HUGE PENISES" in great big giant letters, you're supposed to laugh, not give a doctoral dissertation on whether black guys actually do have giant dicks. Jeesh.

Well, to everyone who addressed me, Arianddu and Rhiannon have already said it better than I could. :) Of course people have physical preferences in a partner but Sushi seems to be making generalizations beyond that about black women based on his one experience.

And gender preference != racial preference within a gender, but either way it's a physical preference and again we're talking about Sushi's assumptions about character based on race.
