Jeremey wrote:Heard this today....Our current sound guy was a touring engineer in the 70s and 80s with Clair Bros, a large international concert production company. He was touring with Fleetwood Mac around 80-81 or so, and told us that he was at a FWM party where Neal Schon and Geddy Lee were having a fight, and Neal punched Geddy out.... That would have been awesome to see! I don't know if it's true, but he has no reason to lie and he certainly would have been there.

Anyway, just thought I'd share!

Puh-leez. This story sounds about as solid as Buck Dharma drop-kicking Bruce Dickinson at a Scientology pot luck hosted by Chick Corea!!!

For those who don't know, Geddy was quite the bare-knuckles boxer as a young dude. I doubt anybody Neal's size would get a swing in before receiving a knuckle sandwich himself.

One thing that stands out for me in Jeremey's story is, Neal being a guitar player, and using his hands to make quite a nice living, "punched out" Geddy Lee. You really think Neal would risk breaking his digits over some stupid disagreement? Perhaps he didn't think about it or simply didn't care, but that's food for thought.

Also, to the owners of the Time 3 CD package. You all know the story that I believe Herbie told about Rush ripping off Journey on one of the real early tunes. Perhaps this was the reason Schon got all boogered up and brought the noise on the Geddster?

I too am a guitarist (not in the same stratosphere as Neal granted) and let me just say, I punched a refrigerator (in my younger days) incorrectly and broke my hand (a "boxer's break"). I can tell you from experience that I have never fully recovered from the break and cannot physically do the things I used to be able to do on the guitar.

Sucks.

I would NOT recommend a "fight" with ANY major appliance but, if you have to...make sure the impact is with your first knuckle or two...not your last two (i.e., the ones for your ring and pinky fingers). That small bone in your hand connecting to your pinky finger is very fragile!

Remember this as well the next time you are about to punch out a Buckeye fan!

Hell, my little ass could probably punch Neal out.

His exact words were that it was like two elves fighting.

Geddy looks exactly like an elf too, so its not all that hard to picture.

I like Geddy Lee. The fact he can play the bass the way he does and sing at the same time is amazing to me.
Ever notice, you never see him and Margaret Hamilton in the same place??????

NO. He's NOT Steve F'ing Perry. But he's Arnel F'ing Pineda and I'm okay with that.

Who ripped off the lick from Carry On Wayward Son, or was did Kansas rip that from Journey?

I don't know if Kansas ripped anything from Journey. They're pretty deft musically, and I don't see why the would intentionally rip anyhting.

I don't know my Pre-Perry Journey very well, but I know Ross played the lick in his bass solo on Captured and I seem to remember a boot from the 30th anniversary tour where one of the songs that Journey played used that Kansas lick. Again, not sure which band took it from which band.

I broke that bone once on my left hand playing basketball. The person guarding me swiped at the ball and just barely bent my pinky sideways and that bone snapped like a pretzel. To this day, that knuckle just above that bone is the only one that I can't crack. Makes me light-headed if I try.

I don't think they did, at least not intentionally. While the riff in "I'm Gonna Leave You" is similar to part of "Carry on Wayward Son", it only makes up a very small part of that song.

How did you get wind of that one? That was a doozy. Not sure if I should share that story here. Put it this way, The Leprechaun is lucky that 'fight' didn't materialize.
