You know, I have been to a LOT of funeral homes over the years. Including my own dads when he was in his 40's. And it wasn't 200 crying sobbing people the entire time. People talked and laughed and lightened the mood too. There is nothing disrespectful about humor. This isn't even a funeral home. It's a freaking thread on a message board.Pelata wrote:Someone died, people...can we muster a tiny speck of general respect?

Well I'm pretty sure that MG knows my intent and knows full well I said what I did in humor. We do that with each other. It's not serious.Rocker Chic wrote:StevePerryHair wrote:You know, I have been to a LOT of funeral homes over the years. Including my own dads when he was in his 40's. Humor isn't in and of itself, but disrespectful humor is. It's all in the delivery and intent.

It was not my intention to disrespect or make light of this particular person's death in any way, shape or form. Upon further review, and I'm glad I received the PM's I did pointing this out, I (inadvertently) picked the wrong to do it in, as this person was pertinent and recognizable in the melodic rock world. Apologies to anyone that was offended (except Portland).

no, but I'm sure the members of Led Zeppelin are clearly upset. Steve Lee could absolutely nail that material, which could be pertinent since Robert Plant seems to have little desire to do such. LZ was one band that Gotthard covered at least occasionally live in the encore.

Even though Page made all that noise about touring as Zep with a replacement singer, I don't think it will ever happen no matter how much someone sounds like Plant.
Second tier bands can get away with it, but it didn't go over very well with an iconic group like Yes. They went from potential soldout bookings in Arenas to playing casinos in the space of one year by bringing in Benoit when Anderson couldn't go.
Even May and CO. had the good sense to call them selves Paul Rogers and Queen instead of just Queen.
Van Hager has been the exception, not the rule when it comes to a top band swapping in vocalists but of course, they separated themselvest from Dave's era and ended up with two successful branches of band history instead of one.
I would assume Page would end up having to go the Journey route and play the dirty dozen every night no matter who he brought in to replace Plant if the band was going to tour under the Zepplein banner. Seeing as Robert is still performing live, I don't see masses of people going out their and supporting a a new version of Led Zeppelin, if Plant is not the one actually singing. I think the band would be seen as being an equivalent to the Firm doing Zeppelin covers.
