I saw them at Morongo with Mickey Thomas and Bobby Kimball as openers. They rocked it. Even their ballads come of a bit edgier, probably why the European audiences dig them also. Kelly came up with Hurricane, a band a bit more heavier than Styx, Foreigner, Journey, etc. so he has an advantage there along with that Skanky old rocker look that the crowd loves.

He looks like Steven Tyler did before Tyler turned into somebody's maiden aunt.

I saw Kansas, Styx and Foreigner in Omaha this past 4th of July and Foreigner absolutely destroyed the place. They had at least 90% of the 80,000 people on their feet going nuts. Kansas got about 1/10th of them on their feet and Styx about 1/3rd. Foreigner was, by far, the best band that night.

They are great now. Wish Cant' Slow Down had performed a little better for them retail but still a decent overall showing.

Another thing I like about Kelly is that he owns his position. When ever the band is interviewed , Hansen definitely comes across as a leader figure. He pimps the group continuously and gives the impression that he has been in Foreigner since day one. He is really comfortable when dealing with the media.

Foreigher are seriosuly tight live with this line up...and heavy. VERY cool and Kelly rules.

I saw Foreigner last December and they were fantastic. The band was very tight. And Kelly Hansen was very energetic and really sang well...he really owned the stage. Love their latest album, "Can't Slow Down." I think it's a great package and hope it makes it to the U.S. (Though Styx would be the only act on this bill that wouldn't excite me.)

Probably so. And btw, Journey will love this simply because they don't have to worry about the crowd's reception to new music. They've got the time-constraint excuse to not play anything but the DD/catalogue. They'll get a huge Euro surge in selling their back catalogue - their money makers.

This new 'concept' album is much like a solo project...just something they want to do for themselves. (If there was true demand for it, they wouldn't be taking an entire year+ to work on it.) Commercial success to the new album will probably be the far east market. And, maybe that's all they're going for at this time. Who knows.

I still want to think that this is all prep for some eventual reunion thing. Not saying that they were ever as big as KISS, or The Eagles, but the financial success of a classic lineup reunion thing has to be on many minds as they age.

Agreed, and I have mad respect for them for not going the soundalike route. Kelly's a great frontman, and without sounding just like Gramm definitely does the songs justice........ That Was Yesterday http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VZNr5QiIeSE

I do think this lineup of Foreigner KILLS, but to say they'll blow Journey off the stage, is a reach. Neal can hold his own with ANYONE and despite mixed emotions some of you have about Arnel, the vast majority of "fans" that will see this show don't know the difference between one Journey vocalist and the other. They just want to hear the familiar songs the way they remember them.
It's not a lie, if you believe it..........

I love you ...but very much disagree w/this. Most of them know!! Do you observe
your surroundings when you attend a Journey show?!? Be serious ...what are you lookin' at?!
I do agree w/the DD part ...new/casual fans want to hear those and only those!! :D

I think the point he was getting at was that this is a UK tour. The vast majority a fans there never saw a Steve Perry fronted Journey. For most there, it is all about the songs.

Again, I also agree that Foreigner is a solid band (as is Styx), but some of you are nuts if you think they will blow Journey of the stage. I understand some people's bias when it comes to Pineda. However, let us not forget that as musicians and performers, the members of Journey are truely some of the best.

You're on crack. Pineda is not a newbie.

That still doesn't change the fact that Pineda looks like a drugged up Duracell bunny on stage. He got no presence what so ever. Good voice, but that's about it.

a jumping one at that!

A jumping one is better than one that sits on its ass.
NO. He's NOT Steve F'ing Perry. But he's Arnel F'ing Pineda and I'm okay with that.

The dude was destitute and eating Lassie burgers at one point in his life. He's from a third world country, has no technical backround or advanced education, really no musical talents beyond actually singing. What other choice does he have but to show up and sing?

I wouldn't mind either Foreigner OR Styx with Journey, but not both. I saw Styx a few years ago, and they were fantastic. I would probably prefer Foreigner- just because I haven't seen them with the new lineup.

"...Banana ketchup or franz sauce is a popular Filipino condiment made from mashed banana, sugar, vinegar, and spices. Its natural color is brownish, so it is often dyed red to resemble tomato ketchup. Banana ketchup was made when there was a shortage of tomato ketchup during World War II, due to lack of tomatoes and a comparatively high production of bananas...."

If you have ever eaten Filipino Spaghetti, you have probably tasted banana ketchup.

Journey should just reunite with every member.... go out on one last tour...

1 - Neil
5 - singers
3 - drummers (sorry Larry - RIP)
2 - bass players
2 - keyboardists

and call themselves the Band or the Allman Bros or the Doobies or something...

I saw Styx in Nashville last night and it was incredable. The band is tight and it seems like doing the full Grand Illusion and Pieces of Eight records have given them their fire back. These three bands together will kill but Foreigner and Journey had better bring their "A" game or else!

First thing is first, Foreigner and Lou gramm go hand in hand. Journey and Steve Perry, same thing. And you could say the same thing for the Styx and Dennis.

Secondly Kelly Hanson, is your complete package. Look at the guy? he looks like your classic rock star pin up guy, he's got the hair, the looks, everything, and if that's not enough... check out his voice! complete professional, knows how to control the stage back to front, knows how to use his voice to it's full potenial, and sounds brilliant. So you won't find a better professional, there are guys as good, but hard to say better at what they do at the highest level of their craft. IMO Kelly Hanson is at the top of his game as a professional singer.

Thirdly, Arnel Pineda - as a professional singer, same thing, he's not new, he's a veteran, knows all the tricks of the trade. What he doesn't have, Arnel makes up for power, and solid singing, a strong vocalist.

It's pretty much a win win here folks.
