A very sloppy game by both sides, but especially Auburn. Newton missed 3 easy TD passes, they were caught off guard on special teams several times, but they still won. This should have been a 10-20 point Auburn win, and probably would have been on most nights. But, hey, I had Auburn -2 and collected a nice sum of money.

Wonder why? Oregon has a one set offense and a one set standard that they are use to beating on the weaker teams in their conference and mis-matching them with their speed and option game. Auburn was huge up front and pretty much owned the line of scrimmage and were ready for Oregon's ground game because that's all they had quite frankly. Besides the last drive resulting in a nice shovel pass (good call) Auburn would have like 9 guys stacked on the box and Oregon still ran it in the interior. Horrible. If Oregon wouldn't of capitalized on those fakes and if Auburn's offense wasn't so inept then this game could of been a blowout. Good game though, I enjoyed it. Got to love dramatics at the end.

Man Oregon's offense reminds me of NimRod's soft offense. Get the ball in the redzone and don't have the big dogs to slam it down their throats. I saw this same crap 3 years ago with Michigan and knew NimRod had to go.

Rich rod's "O" is not the problem. The "D" needs to catch up to the "O". He's got the program moving in the right direction, just needs a couple more years of getting the right recruits for the team. Unfortunately, that will not happen. Michigan, like many of the little ten, loves to relish the past and stay in it. Let's get a coach in the mold of ole Bo Schembechler with Michigan blue blood and that slow plodding stuck in shit football. You know the coach, just like Bo boy, who never won a national title in 21 years of coaching.

When the defense needed to buckle down, Auburn mistreated Oregon. They were bigger, faster and more athletic. Oregon had every gadget play and fake go their way, had Cam Newton miss 3 very easy TD passes and still lost. If Auburn plays moderately well, they win by about 17. Oregon played well. They're just not in the same league as Auburn.

I think LSU fans have been extremely myopic regarding Les. Yes, he's made some boneheaded mistakes, but in the end, LSU has as much if not more success with him as coach than any other, Saban included. Saban Hate/Envy is still so strong around here, I don't think Miles ever stood a chance in the long run.

The hot rumour is that Jon Gruden is being courted to replace Miles - definitely creating some buzz down here...

Jon Grudens name has been linked to every job, Miami and Florida included. In the end he just waiting on another NFL shot. Even if he takes a college job it will be short lived.

You've heard the old saying, "Be careful what you wish for." Back in October after a crazy victory against Tennessee, many LSU fans left Tiger Stadium wishing Head Coach Les Miles would go back to Michigan.

On that day the Tigers just defeated the Volunteers and were undefeated. But fans were outraged with the poor clock management, like we saw the season before at Ole Miss.

But many of those fans who were disgusted on that October day, have since learned there's a method behind his madness. Miles won a lot of fans back with an unexpected win over Alabama, and then there was a thrilling victory over Ole Miss and the Tigers capped the season with a convincing win over Texas A-and-M.

You might not like the process, but in the end the guy wins. Four ten-plus win seasons in the six years he's been at LSU.

Michigan knows about Miles' weaknesses, but they want what some LSU fans have taken for granted. And that's successful seasons with impressive showings in bowl games.

That's why Michigan might make Miles an offer he can't refuse. The maize and blue are desperate and offering Miles four million or even five million dollars a year for say seven years is a possibility.

Miles has said he loves it in Baton Rouge and knows the Tigers are on the verge of winning another SEC Championship, possibly competing in a BCS title game. He also has great respect for his alma mater and talked yesterday with his former teammate, Michigan Athletics Director Dave Brandon, about coming back to his old college.

A source close to the LSU program and a friend of Miles has told me the mad hatter is not looking to leave Baton Rouge. But he would like to see a commitment from the administration that he's not going to be fired after an eight win season.

LSU did not roll over his contract or extend his deal after LSU won eight and nine games after the 2008 and 2009 seasons. In fact after the 2009 season, LSU Athletic Director Joe Alleva called the 2009 campaign a "nice season," but wanted more from the program.

Miles would be the first to admit LSU should play for championships every year, but if the Tigers come up short of that goal, he would like to see the administration stand behind him, instead of giving him a luke warm grade.

Alleva has said LSU will do whatever they can to keep Miles. Because of LSU's budget issues, it would be poor public relations to give Miles another half-a-million or million dollars more, even though state dollars are not used for coaches salaries.

So, look for university officials to offer Miles an extension, giving him the feeling that he can coach at LSU for however long he wants. A new deal would also contain huge bonuses for playing in certain bowl games and SEC and BCS National Championship games. A little more for his assistants will also help the cause.

I'm not sure what Miles will do after he meets with Michigan. I put the chances of Les returning at 70%. But if he does go, fans might wish for him to return if LSU has a nice season with only eight victories in 2011.

The BCS title game between Auburn and Oregon attracted the top overnight metered cable television rating ever.

The game drew a 16.1 overnight rating in its first year on ESPN. That's 12 percent less than the 18.2 rating Fox drew last year. ESPN is available in 15 percent fewer homes.

It is higher than the 14.4 rating ESPN drew for a Monday Night Football game last year between New England and New Orleans. That was the previous high. It is also higher than the 2008 and 2005 BCS title games.

The game drew a 67.0 rating in Birmingham, Ala., and a 37.5 in Portland, Ore. -- the home markets of the two teams. It also did well in Nashville (28., New Orleans (28.6) and Knoxville (27.7).

The game also drew 619.000 unique viewers on ESPN3.com -- the highest viewed college football game on the broadband service. It's fourth all-time behind three FIFA World Cup broadcasts.

Ratings represent the percentage of all homes with televisions tuned into a program. Overnight ratings measure the country's largest markets.
