WHAT wise-cracks? He used the guy's real name? I guess that's anti-jew? Dang, why don't they go after Lorre for being embarrassed to use his real name?

This explains it best. But, for the record, I don't care what he called him. I'm on Charlie's side!

Update: When I heard the audio last night at TMZ, I heard “Hymie,” not “Chaim”, but on a second listen, commenters are right in that he said (phonetically) “Hime”; “Chaim” is pronounced a little differently. At any rate, Chuck Lorre’s birth name is Charles Levine, not Chaim Levine, and he very clearly goes by Chuck. At any rate, a man who changed his name from Carlos Irwin Estevez has very little room in sneering at someone else’s choice to use a different name for professional reasons.

Well, Chuck Lorre has had other shows, HAS other shows currently, and will have more in the future. Though this may be the most successful one, for now, and I'm sure it's not an easy loss, he TOO will get over it  The guy's pockets aren't hurting either. And he doesn't have a drug habit affecting his future abilities either.

How can you be for Charlie in this insanity. His people, publicists and assistants, that make a living off of him are quitting him. He is talented and the primary reason 2 and a half men is as good as it is, but he has gone off the deep end and there should be no defending him until he makes a commitment to change his behavior. Can you imagine him on the set in this crazy condition.

It just gets better and better  :

"I probably took more than anybody could survive. ... I was bangin' seven-gram rocks and finishing them because that's how I roll, because I have one speed, one gear. [I survived] because I'm me. I'm different. I have a different constitution, I have a different brain, I have a different heart. I got tiger blood, man. Dying's for fools, dying's for amateurs."

-Veteran television actor and tabloid fodder Charlie Sheen, explaining not only his drug use but also how he managed to come out of such drug use alive. In a pair of interviews (one granted to NBC's "Today," the other to ABC's "20/20," part of which aired on Monday morning (February 28th) on "Good Morning America"), Sheen tried to set the record straight about his health, hit current feud with "Two and a Half Men" creator Chuck Lorre and the statements he made in the press last week that lead to CBS shutting down the remainder of the season of the top-rated comedy show on television.

In the midst of all of his explanations, he also unleashed some incredible philosophy. "I'm tired of pretending like I'm not special," Sheen said of his position of power on television. "I'm tired of pretending like I'm not bitching, a total fricking rock star from Mars, and people can't figure me out; they can't process me. I don't expect them to. You can't process me with a normal brain." Sheen said that even though he is the most-paid actor on television (earning nearly two million dollars per episode of "Two and a Half Men"), he'll still need more to come back to the program.

Regardless of his current state, Sheen declared that he is not done partying — nor will he ever be. "What's not to love?" he said. "Especially when you see how I party. It was epic. The run I was on made Sinatra, Flynn, Jagger, Richards all of them look like droopy-eyed armless children. ... I am on a drug, it's called Charlie Sheen. It's not available because if you try it once you will die. Your face will melt off and your children will weep over your exploded body."

I wouldn't be surprised is Charlie turns out to be suffering from a bipolar disorder. It is very common for people with this disorder to abuse drugs and alcohol . His current behavior seems to be a classic manic phase.

Euphoria
Extreme optimism
Inflated self-esteem
Poor judgment
Rapid speech
Racing thoughts
Aggressive behavior
Agitation or irritation
Increased physical activity
Risky behavior
Spending sprees or unwise financial choices
Increased drive to perform or achieve goals
Increased sex drive
Decreased need for sleep
Inability to concentrate
Careless or dangerous use of drugs or alcohol
Frequent absences from work or school
Delusions or a break from reality (psychosis)
Poor performance at work or school

The more I observe him & hear him speak, the more I believe that he is suffering from a serious mental illness and requires much more than detox and rehabilitation.
Grammar, the difference between knowing your shit and knowing you're shit.

It's unbelievable that anyone can look at Charlie Sheen and not see a train wreck - this is a guy who has been in and out of rehab several times over the past two and a half decades, never managed to stay clean and sober, and nearly died from an overdose in '98. He is still getting wasted on alcohol and cocaine and flushing a career as the highest paid actor on television down the drain, but he's got it under control? This is the most out of control he has ever been, including the time he "accidentally" shot his then-girlfriend Kelly Preston, was arrested for battering another, and if he were anyone else he would be in prison for holding a knife to his last wife's throat and threatening her.

Does anyone remember Jan Michael Vincent from 'Airwolf' in the 80s? He started with a film career and at the time he starred on the show, he was the highest paid actor on television at $200,000 per episode (adjust for inflation!), but his alcoholism was so out of control that they could not have continued with the show and after it shut down, he spiralled even worse. A car accident coupled with the alcohol and drug abuse has left him unable to function as an actor. This is what he started out as (click on the pictures to enlarge them):

This is him a few years ago after years of alcohol and drug abuse and where Charlie Sheen is headed if he survives that long and doesn't get clean:

He actually came off partway coherent on Piers Morgan Tonight last evening... but in the rest of these things, he sounds like a raving maniac.

I have people I've dealt with personally that act and sound JUST like him (I'm sure many of us could say the same...), only difference being the money. And dealing with that personality type is just... I have no words. It's no surprise to me that the execs pulled the plug on him. The only way to make people like that pay the f'k attention is to get drastic. And I hope they don't plug it back in. That's the last thing his already overinflated ego needs. Some people just have no problem letting everyone know how highly they think of themselves, how smart they are, how they "get things done" and so on... and in their mind they think they're somehow promoting something good about themselves and then when they get all loud and bombastic about it like he's doing, everyone around them is going "omg, what an arrogant asshole..." And that's kind of what's happening to Charlie now. He will be lucky if CBS chooses dollars and puts that show back on. As it stands, he's a loose cannon who needs help - I don't even mean rehab... just help, in general, and everyone sees it but him. And I hope he gets better.

Considering the age demographic on this board, who doesn't remember JMV? Yeah, he's a classic fuck-up. He was a really cool actor. He was Charles Bronson's protegé in the original 1972 The Mechanic (still an awesome movie, by any right). JMV was in Damnation Alley (SF cheez, but still a cool '70s movie), Big Wednesday, Hooper (Burt Reynolds' young "successor," both guys were hilarious in that one), etc..

And then Jan peaked with Airwolf. And crashed. And burned. The interview where that last pic is taken from is on Youtube. Jan had to be helped into his chair, but certified that he was perfectly fine and able to function as an actor (when the interviewer specifically asked him if he could). Sad.

It's amazing how some people can't seem to let it go. Charlie Sheen is a funny guy and I love the show, but he shouldn't take it for granted. I won't be surprised if they even attempt — repeat, attempt — to replace him with somebody else. Before TaaHM Sheen was technically washed-up. The '90s weren't too good to him, overall. His career wasn't like Jan-Michael Vincent's, which was consistent from the '60s through the '80s till everything came to a screeching halt.

Part II on the Today Show wasn't as funny. But, he did talk about his live-in girlfriends: Bree Olson and some model. Can't say I haven't seen a few dicks penetrate Bree in my day on Tube8.com.

That was a rumor, or so I read. Apparently someone made a joke to the effect and it got around (that old glorious game of telephone, you know, where the story becomes something else) and then CBS came out yesterday and said, "um no". Unless something has changed since yesterday? Uncle Jesse... that could be fun. :o

I watched one of the interviews, with a blonde interviewer, can't remember which show now, but I think after watching it's pretty obvious the guy has some mental issues. Alcoholism and drug use are probably secondary to that.

Considering some of the things I've heard him say recently, my guess is he's ALREADY lost his mind. He certainly thinks he's indestructible. He's not.
