I doubt hardly any will. I went for years posting over there without even knowing this place existed.

Are you suggesting that theyre as slow as you are ? Thats just an observation , not an accusation

I didn't know a "noticeboard" existed until today

Really? That makes two of us......well I saw a noticeboard but paid it no mind..........I have so much fun here I did not know of another place to talk to folks..............how are the noticeboard crowd?

much more varied in interest. Probably a 50/50 discussion on the current melodic rock scene (aka the bands nobody on this board have ever heard of), and the old standbys (Whitesnake, Journey, Survivor, Van Halen, etc).

99% of the people here wouldn't know a current melodic Rock scene if it smacked them across the face...lol

That's because this message board is split into several melodic rock GROUPS and THIS division of theboard started off as solely JOURNEY fans, until it got slowly divided apart. It was the common bond. Journey is a main stream MR group, and most people here are into the main stream classic rock MR groups. Get it now? For the 100th time???    Maybe Andrew can give you a Crazy Lixx board and you can talk to yourself there!!!

I check out the Noticeboard and this Messageboard almost every day, and I get equal benefit from both.

The Noticeboard is certainly more current and varied in its discussion of the melodic rock scene. As a result I’ve checked out and become a fan of many bands I’d never have heard about otherwise. The melodic rock scene may not make mainstream news and the bands may never become rich, but there is a huge amount of quality new music out there for anybody prepared to listen. Also, many of the artists themselves frequent the Noticeboard, so you really do get up to date information.

The message boards on the other hand, particularly this one, are better for more in depth discussion (when the threads aren’t being hijacked by in-jokes and drivel). I enjoy the forthright opinions expressed, even when I don’t agree with them – it’s good entertainment.

Not exactly... It was started way back in 2002 (I think and I see that you joined with this screen name in 2007) and it was mostly due to some heated, divisive Styx (and a few other bands) discussions on the Noticeboard that were overtaking the board a bit and getting heated/personal. Andrew decided to create a few band specific boards for people to discuss those particular bands in more depth without dominating the main board. These boards then expanded from there with demand for additional bands, as well as other miscellaneous topic boards.

This board did not become all that Journey concentrated until the Official Journey board became much more restricted and increasingly intolerant of opposing viewpoints. Yes, these boards are more Journey-fan dominated now, but I believe that was due more to the turmoil of Journey's lead singer musical chairs game. Most fans sought refuge here so that their voices could be heard more freely, not simply because Journey is perceived as the main stream.

Strange way of thinking.....both boards are promoted equally and are linked from the frontpage.

Nevertheless, that's what I was told. And I don't think many non-noticeboard people knew about it.

I believe you.

There is a definiet seperation of users between the set of boards.

Not for me. I swing both ways....

Yes, I do remember way back when (2005), the Styx board had the most posters/traffic, by a wide margin. It was the avent of tapegate and all the drama surrounding this band that took the Journey forum to the top of the ladder. In a way, I guess Andrew has Deano to thank for bringing all the Journey fans over to this site.

Not from yourself, mate. It's very subtle, very understated....but it's there. Don't forget, I've been around the internet for a long time. I've seen how things can, and do, get bent out of shape.....and also how 'possessive' people can be.
I'm not trying to start a flame war or anything, but I certainly felt a little brostling at the mention of the Noticeboard.

Exactly. His generally hostile, combative, acerbic, irascible, and not so passive aggressive nature is part of his charm.

In the spirit of the Noticeboard, I have been listening to some Mark Spiro stuff tonight. Anybody have any info on what he is working on anything? Seems to have been quiet for a few years.

Also listening to some Blue Murder. Now Sykes is out of Thin Lizzy he should do another Blue Murder album. The debut was killer.

How can a band as good as Royworld fly under the radar. They should have been huge.

The disappointing Mighty Blue Ocean was the last thing I heard....King of Crows was good, albeit rather lite. And the Stuff Dreams are made of, with Dan Huff was also good. Other than that, I couldn't get into the rest.....
