Ashton Kutcher joins Two and a Half Men

Postby Don » Fri May 13, 2011 2:09 pm

http://tv.ign.com/articles/116/1168103p1.html

And the new star of Two and a Half Men is… Ashton Kutcher. The Hollywood Reporter says the actor is "putting the final touches" on a deal that will have him replacing the fired Charlie Sheen in the series, which is TV's number one comedy. Specifics of his deal aren't known, but the Reporter says Kutcher is getting a "huge payday" for the series.

CBS was working hard to line up a new star for the series before their Upfront presentation next week, when they announce their full 2011-2012 lineup. Hugh Grant came close to signing on, but that deal fell through several days ago. The Reporter says that after talks with Grant broke down, Kutcher's deal came together quickly.

Kutcher fucking sucks. I guess there aren't many more cheesy romantic "comedy" scripts going around for him to suck at.

Fuck Kutcher, bring back Sheen.

Actually I hope ABC brings Sheen in.

 I've seen him on a couple programs having discussions on topics that had nothing to do with acting. And the guy is far from a clueless idiot (Kelso  ), surprisingly he's actually quite smart, so obviously he's a good actor.........I have a feeling he could probably pull it off.

I was never a big fan if his, but saw him in the movie "No Strings Attached" with Natalie Portman and was very surprised at how much I enjoyed the movie and him!

This is going to be a massive fail and Ashton is a strange pick -

however, he was good in "the butterfly effect" - (pretty good sci-fi / twilight zone'esque movie)

Also saw him on Bill Maher, and he held a capable argument / discussion

I have my doubts.. I'll give it a watch just to see how they plan on adding him to the show.

They need to add a twist and some new storylines. If Ashton tries to straight up copy the Charlie Harper character it will fail massively.Best thing the producers can do is go in a totally different direction and hope it all works out when the camera is filming.Ashton Kusher will never ever fill the shoes of Charlie on the show.

Hell, I like Kutcher. Butterfly Effect, No Strings Attached, and Spread where he bangs a lot of hot babes without having any job or money, Awesome! Plus Kutcher has a shitload of fans on twitter and who knows what else. Face it, Sheen's not coming back.

No, he isn't ...the show will either move along w/AK, or be put to rest! Charile weighs in though ...

Well, I didn't really consider this one a chic flic, except for the hollywood ending. Which I am NOT a hopeless romantic for believe it or not! I thought it was really funny! And my husband DESPISES chic flics ( It's complicated almost KILLED him! ) But this one had enough "guy humor" comedy in it that he laughed a lot too. I have a very warped sense of humor I know!

Part of what made this show successful was the character persona tied to that of the actor's real life. Can Ashton Kutcher play this character, if he's not a real bad boy himself? I doubt it. He's good, but he'll come off as more like a Gilligan than a crafty womanizer.

Anyone want to guess the storyline?

My guess: Uncle Charlie dies on a bender, and his house/posessions is willed to Kutcher, a "best friend" Alan never knew about instead of it going to Alan...

I watched the show occasionally.. and I never made that connection about Sheen...

The whole cast deserves more credit for the shows success... it wasn't just Charlie...

The show will be fine... Charlie however won't be...

Charlie is gonna go spend all of his money and continue on his quest for the bottom.
He may not be able to find work that pays enough to support his lifestyle. Wonder
where all his godesses and friends will be when he's broke? I know this movie's end.

How could you not? There has NEVER been a show in the history of TV who has had a star whose character was identical to his actual life! Hell, nobody even needed to write a script!

slucero wrote:The whole cast deserves more credit for the shows success... it wasn't just Charlie...

I think CBS will learn fairly quickly that Sheen was that show. It will get great ratings the first week or two (much like the very unfunny Conan O'Brien did for his first show). Like Conan, it will then crash and burn. "All in the Family" probably had the most brilliant cast ever assembled in the history of TV. That said, as great as that cast was, if Carroll O'Connor (Archie) left that show...there would have been no show!

slucero wrote:The show will be fine...

Doubtful. Kutcher has great taste in MILFS, but he's no Charlie Sheen. I suspect the second that show starts to tank (and it will), Chuck Lorre goes running back to Sheen and offers him 3 million per episode to come back!
