Best brand of CDR's?

What do you consider to be the best brand of CDR's?

I usually use either Maxell or TDK. Are there any CDR's that any of you consider to be better than those?

Does Denon make CDR's? I've always heard great things about their cassette tapes.

If you ask some people, they will say unbranded Taiyo Yuden....I used to swear by Fuji(made in Japan, not Hong Kong)...certain dyes made in the manufacturing process are better(read: last longer). Many factors go into it...I haven't really burned a cd in years - when i was actively trading boots....

Are those Taiyo Yuden available in stores in the US, or do they have to be ordered?

Memorex= worst cdrs ever, horrible i have had so many coasters with this brand , i doubt i would use these if someone gave them to me for free(just because i know i would be wasting my time) absolute garbage

I've had trouble with their media also. I'll burn movies for Debbie, and sometimes the drive won't even detect the DVD. Then when it does, and I don't know if it's the drive, the software or the DVD, but somewhere in the movie, it will start pixelating, these blocks of noise start flashing here and there on the screen, finally to the point that it just freezes.

I've had great luck with Fry's house brand. GQ. Usually about $20 per 100.

I've had mixed results regardless of the brand name.

In my early cd-r years, I went with maxell, but their 74-minute cd-rs were significantly better than their 80-minute cd-rs. (in fact, I always picked the 74-minute cd-r whenever I could find one. Several of my cd-burners and cd players struggled to burn/read 80-minute cd-rs.) More recent Maxells in the past 5 years in my collection have started to stop working.

Later, I put my faith in Sony. Though the initial cd-r sometimes come with defects, those discs that came without problems are still going strong.

Now, I put more faith in CD-RWs whenever I can. Because, they're designed to be rewritten on over and over again, so the philosophy is that they will last longer.

Rarely use them anymore. Entire collection on my desktop and I can plug my external hard drive into my BluRay and play everything through my stereo that way.

Memorex were the absolute drizzling shits. I agree. Worst of the brand names by far.

I agree. I have had so many Memorex duds, way more than an acceptable level of rejects.

Yep, i have tried several different drives with memorex and they always give me problems , I won't buy them period. I was thinking the same thing about Frys ,I have had great luck with there GQ brand and they used to be dirt cheap. I used to pick up cdr 100 packs for 5-8 bucks but things have changed in the last few years. They dont carry half of the amount of cdrs or dvdrs as they used to , and the prices have doubled , the best price i have seen for cdrs has been about 12 bucks/100

I've got a Memorex DVD in my laptop drive right now. Plays fine there but pauses every few seconds on the home DVD player.
