Dio had a helluva band on that album, including none other than Jens Johansson on keyboards. Of all the guitarists Dio worked with throughout his post-Rainbow/Sabbath era, the consensus is that Tracy G was the least impressive, with Campbell, Goldy and Aldrich being the best.

The "Decade" collection was actually where I first heard that album. I love it...The solo stuff and AD material is good, too, but "Seeds of Change" is one of my favorite prog albums (if it could be considered prog, that is).

Strange Highways was the very first time I heard something from Dio that I felt did not match what he was capable of. Some good songs, but some that weren't so good, that could have used some restructuring. And again, I think much of that had to do with Tracy G.

I could care less about consensus...to me, Tracy G was the most Iommi-like guitarist he ever had. He wasn't the shredder Goldy or Campbell was, but his tone & style were quite heavy & dark...much more so than his presecessors. Even Angry Machines had a couple of cool songs on it.

SH and AM are too close to Sabbath for my tastes. Dehumanizer and the new Heaven and Hell are too heavy for my tastes....the thing most blinded fans fail to realize is it is OK to not like EVERYTHING by an artist. Going back, I loved the brilliant Heaven and Hell, Mob Rules, and subsequent Live Evil. And let's not even get into the brilliance that is Rainbow...
