It's newsworthy but it doesn't warrant the doomsday type of coverage that they are giving it.

It's not everyday or even often that an earthquake of this magnitude happens on this side of the country. And, with D.C. apparently getting the worst of it, I would imagine those people thought it could have been another terrorist attack. That's nothing to be taken lightly.
