Atlanta - Arnel struggling

The internet nowadays can declare someone's career over in the space of hours of a rough show, just because of someone posting a bad review or that someone has had a rough night...

Especially when there are those out there that're just WAITING for the guy to show the slightest weakness... Missed a note! Career must be over!

I know gigs 3 days in a row is considered anathema for singers. I remember Burton Cummings went on tour a few years ago and had several noted "struggle" nights. His next go-round, he sounded great every show and got rave reviews. He blogs all the time. There, he attributed the unbelievable improvement not only to quitting smoking, but also (and mainly) to his making sure that he no longer did any 3 night back to back stretches. He said there's just something about that third night that kills you as a singer.

In my experience it isn't necessarily the 3rd night itself that kills you as much as the lack of recovery time for the next round of shows that a 3rd night will pinch you on. I did nearly all 3 or 4 nighters nearly all summer long and it zinged me good, LOL. By the time I was home again, it was time to get back out and sing some more. Of course those were 2 hour sets with sketchy PA systems so that makes it a little more rough as well.

That makes sense too. But you're also a lot younger than the singers I've heard complaining about the 3rd night of a triple-header, too. So factor that in.

I thought they were on game at Memphis.

Sounded good to me, and I talked to two of my friends who were up in the stands - they were blown away by all three bands, but enjoyed Journey the most. Everyone has different opinions.

Can anyone elaborate on the blurb about "Ava Fabian being 'removed' from the tour because she was a distraction"? Did the band have a problem with her being around, or was it just a NS thing? I mean, was she getting in people's business, or did she & Neal just have a spat of sorts. Maybe it was just a little sidebar to set the stage for this Salahi thing? Interesting.

No excuse, hell Mr Big has been touring pretty much all year playing 2 - 3 hour shows & will be going right thru to December.............EM's pipes are holding up great and he's got a decade on AP. Granted the early Journey catalogue is probably a little harder to sing, but the early MB catalogue isn't exactly a walk in the park either. Yep, it's not a Who song, it's originally from Argent. Always liked it too, was glad to see MB start covering it. I just meant, that that cover kind of replaced The Who's Baba O'Riley cover they normally did in the concerts when they freshly re-united in 2009. But they seemed to have gone back to doing the Who song again now, haven't seen the Argent cover pulled out on any of the setlists this tour. Would have been cool to see that one at one of the shows this tour. But I'm not complaining too much as they at least pulled out Humble Pie's 30 Days In The Hole again for some of the shows this year. Great intro harmonies. To be fair though, Journey's catalogue hasn't exactly been shown to be kind to singers and shredded both Perry and Augeri over time. People are nervous.

But year, it doesn't mean it's the end either. I like the post I read earlier about colds. Could be something as simple as that.
