Musical duels.......

Postby Deb » Thu Sep 22, 2011 4:53 am

I could see a show every single month and never tire of watching these 2 play off each other..... :D http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qrnD25VQV1U

What are some of your favorite duels? Whether it be guitar/bass, vocal/bass, vocal/guitar, etc.......

you mean "duel"... don't you?

Ooops.  Yep.

Another favorite is the vocal/guitar duel of Perry and Schon on the live intro of Wheel In The Sky, I think it was Osaka '80. Oh and also the guitar/organ/vocal intro to Walks Like A Lady from the same show...... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B9vROjzy ... re=related

Well Deb, I have been accused of becoming the "New Deb". You like to share all things Mr. Big and I'm not shy about expressing my love for the music of Joe B/BCC so here's a duel between the great Eric Clapton and the equally awesome Joe Bonamassa. :D :D

So not really duels, but the first is just a great guitar instrumental that I love hearing and the second does feature two guitarists. One of the best instrumentals I've heard in a long long time. Reminds me of some of the great Rik Emmet stuff.

Some great clips here guys/gals, thanks for sharing! :) LOL @ Cudaclan, I remember that banjo scene absolutely creeping me out for some reason when I was kid.

Another fave duet, beautiful work! And love how there is cameras mounted right on the doubleneck bass and doubleneck guitar to get a birds eye view of that amazing fingerage! And love how it ends in a 4 man, 1 bass, 1 guitar duet. :D

One of my favs is Joe Satriani duelling with phenomenal bassist Stu Hamm on a kickass version of Satch Boogie performed live in Chicago (I think...) and I'll be God Damned if I can find it now!! If you know who Stu Hamm is you can imagine this duel is outstanding! He's one of the most talented, impressive, entertaining bassists I've ever seen - a true master of his craft. Think Harlem Globetrotter meets Geddy meets Buddy Rich if that's even possible!
Whilst I keep searching for the video in question, here's some Stu to chew on.
It starts out kinda slow so you can either just be patient of skip ahead to where it starts cookin'.

And of course there's this... It's not really dueling per se... it's more outstanding talent jamming together. Steve Morse and Rik Emmett playing Midsummer's Daydream.

Speaking of Steve Morse, here's him from his Deep Purple days dueling with keyboardist Don Airey. Good Stuff!
