I have not attempted to upgrade mine yet but will tonight if I have time. You mentioned the firewall, and back when I still had a 3G, and I attempted to install the iOS4, when that first came out, I kept getting strange errors that carried over to my iPhone 4 when I got it in the mail a couple weeks later. I could not get the software to install right, on the 3G and couldn't get it to restore my data onto the new 4, because my previous phone had been getting that back up error. It was a mess.conversationpc wrote:My wife had a problem with the upgrade...Got part way through and it just quit and said it couldn't install OR restore her data. Finally, we re-set the phone (holding down power and home keys for 10 seconds) and then also had to shut down the firewall (ZoneAlarm) and then the restore went through finally and also allowed the upgrade.
After 5 hours on the phone with apple and frustration, I googled my problem. Others were getting the same error message about the phone not able to back up. And someone suggested turning off the firewall. To this day, I can't sync or update anything on my iPhone without turning off my firewall first. It can definitely interfere.
