I have not attempted to upgrade mine yet but will tonight if I have time. You mentioned the firewall, and back when I still had a 3G, and I attempted to install the iOS4, when that first came out, I kept getting strange errors that carried over to my iPhone 4 when I got it in the mail a couple weeks later. I could not get the software to install right, on the 3G and couldn't get it to restore my data onto the new 4, because my previous phone had been getting that back up error. It was a mess.

After 5 hours on the phone with apple and frustration, I googled my problem. Others were getting the same error message about the phone not able to back up. And someone suggested turning off the firewall. To this day, I can't sync or update anything on my iPhone without turning off my firewall first. It can definitely interfere.

I suggested it to a friend who was having some problems upgrading also and it worked for her as well. Kinda weird because mine went through just fine without any tweaking or turning off of the firewall.

Since the upgrade my iPad is spotty. It hangs here or there. Frustrating. I've had to hard-reset it several times.

You can reinstall them, can't you?

How the hell did you go through BACKUP, DELETE , INSTALL IOS , RESTORE and then INSTALL APP , in less than half an hour ?! The restoration and reinstalling the apps itself takes AT LEAST an hour.

You HAVE TO WAIT even after RESTORATION is done for it to completely transfer all your media and applications.
It may LOOK like the process it's done when you look at your phone but pay attention to iTunes.

It's impossible for it to do all that so quickly. You disconnected your phone too early !

Were your files there as well?

Invoices and ebooks intact?

The whole process took me about 1 1/2 hours. No glitches though, just slow. There was one point where it seemed done, but I realized that it was frozen, so I didn't disconnect and after a few minutes, it continued with more restores. Still don't know how to use the new stuff, but I'm sure I'll figure it out!
