Vinyl Confessions tour, the only time I ever saw Kansas live. Survivor was on that bill also.

This worked.

Strangely enough, he was chosen over Sammy Hagar for that gig.
I like to sit out on the front porch, where the birds can see me, eating a plate of scrambled eggs, just so they know what I'm capable of.

And Sammy got his next gig because Patty Smyth turned down the gig she was offered.

That's how it went down. I cannot imagine what VH would have sounded like with her at the mic. Great singer in her own right, but man.

I was not a fan of Van Hagar. It seemed like the band went from R to PG when he came on board.

That's an appropriate analogy. I did like them with Hagar, quite a bit, but it wasn't the same. I'm looking forward to this next release. Man, this has been a long time coming. I know Dave's range is shit anymore, so I'm staying realistic, but I'm hoping for a killer record.

Different band with Sammy. DLR has worked hard to get back to where he is. I think David did a great job on the reunion tour. As most I wish Michael Anthony would have been around, but it was fun to see Dave in VH again regardless. Hope they come up with something good.

I watched some old interviews with DLR recently, with all this news, and he's a smart motherfucker. Charismatic as all get out and didn't come off as an egotistical prick that I had heard he was. Was good to see that. He's an excellent frontman.

I went to this show.

A friend of mine filmed it.

I loved Sammy, but when he joined they ignored all but 3 DLR songs immediately on the 5150 tour. Doing that meant it wasn't VH to me.

The first video was excellent. Loved them doing Clapton's song. The second video, to me wasn't good. Dance the Night Away is a VH anthem and Roth sounded terrible. Hot For Teacher was great. Always loved that one.

I have the entire show on DVD. Same friend who shot JSS in Journey there did this one. I enjoyed the VH show. Then again I drink a lot of beer at shows at this venue and take a cab home. Any criticisms are probably valid, but I make sure in person I get the concert experience and do not notice the flaws.

Which is absolutely the way it should be.
